Cariboo Conditions and riding areas

Welcome to the area. The most popular riding destination is Yank's Peak which is run by the Williams Lake Powder Kings snowmobile club, under a trail agreement with the BC Govt. The club has a groomer there, with grooming done by volunteers on an 'as available' basis.
There is a fairly large parking lot with 2 outhouses and a lot attendant is there on the weekends to collect the Trail Pass fee of $12. He also checks the parking lot each evening to make sure that everyone got off the mountain and home.
The club has a large cabin on the mountain with a woodstove and a good supply of firewood. There is an outhouse (which is soon to be replaced and there is a radio for emergency use only.
There is a marked trail system in the area.

Enjoy your riding.

Most popular if you live in WL. But, you are closer to Mica Mountain just east of 100 Mile. Groomed trail to the alpine :D Stop in at performance All Terrain in 100 Mile, or any of the fine dealers, they will tell you more.

Banditpowdercoat is correct, my bad. :o heading south is probably closer for where you are. Also, if you are into trail riding, I have taken the kids snowboarding at Mt Timothy and the wife and I have done some sledding in that area while the kids are on the hill.

Seriously off to a good start. First ride for me was Nov 11th and there was plenty of snow. I went up last Sunday but didn't make it too far (coolant line was leaking and decided I should call it a day after making a ghetto fab fix). Those who did ride reported lots of snow and good riding.

The main trail (shortcut) up to the cabin was groomed yesterday, but only part way up.

I am hearing stories of like 6 feet up at Yanks, or is it like the fish that got away, more like 4 feet? Freind went to Groundhog as well this past week, say 4-5 days ago and said lots of snow there, rocks are getting pretty well all covered up.

Yanks Peak

Rode Yanks Peak yesterday from the Barkerville side....the trail in was enough to shake all your teeth loose. But once on top, the snow was fairly deep, covering up most rocks....have to watch out for sink holes in the meadows, none are frozen and covered over yet. Met up with lots of locals at the cabin from the Williams lake club. The visibility was close to zero, the snow was pounding down pretty hard, so should be good next weekend, hopefully they groom this week sometime. :)

Any updates on Yanks Fuzzy? I haven't got out yet this year but I have friends that have been to Big Tim already. I'm surprised they went so early. Normally I'd be more inclined to hold off till atleast after Christmas, but they said the snow was great on the back side. Only a little skimpy on the top.

I haven't been up myself since mid -Nov but the people that have been are reporting good riding. I know that a trail grooming was planned for yesterday (Thursday) so the trail in should be good. I'm heading up tomm.

A few of us went to Crooked yesterday. The snow was quite slabby in most areas and there were a number of avalanches triggered. Down lower in the trees close to the cabin, the snow was a lot better but still was unstable in a few spots. If anyone is heading, beware of all the wind loading that has been happening. Ride safe!

We parked at the start of the Crooked Lake road and rode from there. I'm sure you could drive right to the resort, but it's not that far of a ride in and all of the other vehicles were parked there. It won't be long till you can't drive in that far. I didn't know the wasn't any logging going on out there.
