Carbide Choices With New Timbersled Ski

I got one of the triple carbides for spring conditions -- just mounted it up yesterday and will be of to Arctic-man tomorrow.

There are lots of gravel patches around the parking lot there, just could not see me with the dual runner getting around there at all. Like on all carbides I grind the leading edge right flat so they do not hook on rocks , that should be the ticket
to make it across gravely patches to the good snow. i just hope it does not dart to bad.

Will report back with results.

With the triple point you should not need to grind anything - they do not grab on rocks. There is hard weld on the front of the wear bar and the leading edge of the carbide is already angled back. I look forward to hearing what you have to say.

I took some more photos.

It will still beat the heck out of my sled deck and buddies trailers.

I don't think you need carbide's for mtns.

If you built one out of a real hard steel and hard surfaced the whole thing, that's what I would want. Maybe even make it two pieces of round bar ontop of each other for some more grip. I'de buy one right now.

Still got that U runner. If anyone in revy or edm wants it. Didn't work for my setup.

If you don't ride bare roads and gravel to get back to the rigs. the u skag will work. No carbide in the center skag and you will be unable to steer. I'm going to try the triple carbide next season. There is a reason timbersled got rid of the single carbine runner. It doesn't work.

I don't like the U at all. Took it off after one ride.

Didn't work on my kx. Front end washed on the trail and really drug uptop in the deep snow. Wouldn't glide nice and get ontop. Fought it all day, rode a gear too low all the time.

Dunno. It seems like most guys like em but I hated it. Maybe it's something else in my setup.

The single runner I think is great. Way less drag and much more control on the trail up/down

I bought a used plastic bedliner for 10 bucks and cut the bottom out of it - works great in the back of the truck or on the trailer - sled or bikes!

Great thread! I think it's awesome how each of you push and question and come up with neat solutions. All good stuff.

For 2015 our side skags are similar, but not interchangeable with the center skag. They are a good step forward in how the front ski handles; and they provide much improved grip in sketchy conditions vs. the round stock ones they replaced.

We are also working to significantly lower the price of the skags in the Fall, so that more riders can enjoy better handling.

Just coming home from Arctic mann and rode the bike with the triple carbide on in all conditions imaginable:thumb: works as advertised on set up -- easy on the steering does not hang up on anything -- awesome one Ice patches and still good on packed trails darts a bit more compared to the u runner but way better than the stock carbide . There is definitely less drag in all conditions for me this one stays on by far the best all around.
As soon as the make the side once available I will get triples for them as well.
If not I will build my own they make way to much sense.
