Car and Driver maybe the end of the us auto industry

Well said! Domestic vehicles should be about 20% cheaper than imports but they cost more to build... can someone explain to me how someone can justify making $75/ hour tightening lug nuts and then to top it off they get lifetime benefits after they retire???? The union screwed the american manufacturers big time!!! They should be getting paid $20-$30/ hour for that kind of work (and be happy about it too!!!)

The unions rode the cash cow a LONG time and now the ride is over... no pity here as they brought it on themselves!

sad things is if the companies go under the american public will pay for that union members pension plan still. Thank you Mr Obama they will say.

Good point... how does that make any sense??? I think that it is time to cut ALL the fat, get down to doing SMART business and try to make a go of it without costing BILLIONS of taxpayers money... but then again, what do I know? lol :D

I got a 93 Toyota pickup on my lot with 220,000 miles and a 98 Ranger with 120,000 miles. Both in nice shape and well maintained. Come drive both and tell me who makes a better vehicle.

Had 2 Corollas traded in this week.....565,000kms on its 2nd clutch, original tranny and motor (no rebuilds). 309,000kms on the other, original clutch original everything else outside of wear items. That's just this week.

If you want to tell yourself it's all the same stuff, make sure you never buy a Yota or a Honda....cause not many make it back to the other side. If it was all hype, do you REALLY believe that a good percentage of the MILLIONS who have switched wouldn't switch back to domestics after they were dissapointed?

If the US companies are so great, why do they want more money again? Obama just boot F'd Wagoner out of GM and the "auto task force" is going to attempt to straighten it out....on your guy's tab, of course. Do you really want to give MORE of your money to a company like that? IMO, the longer they stay afloat, the longer they have to rob you guys.....

How many 15 year old Hondas do you see on the road? If you do, it's full of rust and worth about 10 bucks.

A hell of a lot more than I see Pontiac Grand Ams, Chevrolet Luminas LOL. You can still sell a nice 1994 Accord for some real money....and they are a nice driving and running car, even by today's standards. Hop in a Corsica and see how that compares....

Get real man.

You are a car saleman!! nothing you say can be trusted!!!:D

Should I buy a Corvette, since it looks like they may be out of business soon??

Why not buy a Saturn? They already closed there doors, so its already a collectors. My 95' twin cam just went up in value like $25 :D

Rangers still made by Mazda? used to be anyways

Other way around. Ford makes the Ranger and the Mazda equivalent, in Louisville KY, at the Ford plant. I used to drive by it every morning on my way to work. I knew a lot of people that worked there. Bragged a lot; about how they didn't do much.
