You should have seen the GreenWater slide about 7-8 years ago. Multiple this by about 10 ! They ended up cutting a road the opposite of the mountain to get around it. There was no pavement left and had to be a 50-75+ yard gap. Quite the site - I'll see if I still have some pics of it. (nice avatar btw!!)
