can't figure out rpm problem, please help

I have an 03 rmk 800 that wil not run right. Idle to half throttle is fine, bogs and will not rev past 6500 after that. It will rev out and pull like a mule if you hold the throttle wide openand wait a few seconds, but anything between half qnd full open does nothing. Any advice would be great.

Carbs are clean as a whistle, reeds as well. There is only 1000 miles on the sled. I ordered a new temp sensor last week, should be in today. If it was the temp sensor, would it run fine at full throttle? It only bogs between half throttle and 9/10. Full throttle, with a slight delay, is fine. I also ordered new clutch springs and weights. I live at 1000ft, i just put new stainless valves in and used the xc spring istead of rmk spring (blue vs pink) I thought the xc spring would be for low alititude? Hope this helps:face-icon-small-sad

I'm going to check the needle setting tonight, after looking at the mikuni jet function chart, it looks like the problem range's fuel is controled buy the needle. This sled was brought down from altitude and I am not sure if the needle was reset. I am hoping that will help solve it.:face-icon-small-con

Believe it or not, when the high-low beam switch goes out, it screws up the RPM's and you can no longer wind it out to maximum RPM.

it will rev out to 8000 if you hold the throttle wide open and wait a second. Just has a bog from 1/3 to 9/10 open. If there was an electrical problem, would it rev out at all? I am willing to check anything right now, i need this sled to run by the friday, as I am heading into the forest for a 5 day winter camping/fishing trip.

id bet your needles just need to be raised a notch if it was set up for higher elevetion than you are. when you pin it, the needles dont block the flow through the main jet anymore. you also need correct mains for your elevation.

Not piped, but I live at 1000ft and it's -20C lately, so it's right in line with what I should be running. Looks like I had one needle retainer loose. Needle was "floating" in the seat and over fueling, also, whoever re-jetted when the sled was brought down from alt. set the needle clips to position 4. should be position 3, so even more fuel was being added without the retaining issue. I'll get a chance to take it out and see what difference it makes tonight.
