Canada Votes!!!!

too many

there are too many parties which force so much vote splitting. It will be hard for any government to get a majority any time soon. I agree its not right to have a provoncial seperatist party candidate in a fedearl election. Harper should introduce a bill to kill off a party or two. If the liberals had half a brain they would support it 100% and they would probably end up with all the green votes and at least stand a half a chance at winning. not that I want that, but at least there could be potential for a majority and then harper can get some sh!t done.

you betcha ;)

I've seen voter turnout numbers anywhere from 54 to 58%.

The most shocking event was the NDP candidate winning in the Edmonton / Strathcona riding.

It also makes me scratch my head that Ralph Goodale keeps his Liberal seat in Regina / Wascana. Some of those goobers need to leave the city every once in a while and take a good look at what really makes this country tick.

Yah this will start happening cause all the minorities and immigrants move into one neighbourhood and pretty soon they get their guy into office.

Absolutely agree with everything said in this thread....there's a lotta BC outside of Vancouver, but you'd never know it. I'd never vote for anything liberal in my life after Gordon jackazz Campbell sticking it in small town BC's arse for years. If we had a way to kill off the BQ, we would have actually done pretty damn good in this election IMO

Even a few ppl in BC I know are confused. "The NDP is for the workin man they get my vote" lololololololol. Keep Harper, get another tax break, maybe a couple more points off the gst too. Oh ya and if you work in mining or oil and gas wich most of us do you get to keep your job too.

Why are conservatives good ? They give money back to their ppl instead of taking more. They give big companies tax breaks which is incentive for them to keep operating here and to make more jobs.

Im 25 and from Alberta and I've been having to explain this really slowly to 50 year olds from BC that I work with. Whats up with that ????

There are alot of people in BC here who vote NDP, but also keep in mind the NDP here won something like 8 seats, the conservatives won something like 22, so its not as bad as you think, its just the ones with the loudest mouths and heard the most are usually NDP, but BC is clearly a conservative province when you take it as a whole, and not just Vancouver

I think you have to realize that you can take a provincial liberal and a federal liberal and they are nothing alike. People get a little confused about the provincial political scene and the federal one. When I lived in Manitoba, it was all about the NDP provincially. SOme of that habit voting does get federal NDPer's elected to go to Ottawa.

We do need representative voting. Up here in the north, we are constantly being forgotten by Ottawa.

Absolutely, that's one of the things that makes Canadian politics quite strange....however, the Liberal party brings nothing to the table either way for me.....provicially, they're a bunch of crooks....federally it's a bunch of east coast big city frenchmen

its kind of interesting, back in the provincial NDP glory days, there were 2 opposition parties, the liberals, and the progressive conservatives was it? well to defeat the NDP, they joined forces in the 90's into the liberal party, so in fact the liberal party in BC leans further right with still a pretty strong conservative base that the federal liberals.

I see your point, you vote for who is best for you and your life, but for myself the NDP brings nothing to the table provincially or federally both as a business owner, and a snowmobiler. I can tell you one thing, Michael Sather (NDP) is my provincial MLA, I wrote him and Preimer Campbell on 6 occastions on some bills that would restrict back road access, the only one that got back to me was Campbell. He has different objectives than me, and I can respect this, but found it rather arrogant to not even respond.

I wrote my MP when the SARA (Species at risk act) legislation was being thrown around and she actually gave me a phone call regarding it. Being a MP from Saskatchewan, she didn't understand the repercussions it could cause and we both learned a bit from it.

Agreed, we are represented by NDP locally (before and after this election), and they just don't get to the issues that concern me and my way of life. I don't feel they will spend our money in ways that will satisfy me. Although I don't agree with everything conservative, it was a fairly easy choice this time around.

As someone said above, I believe BC in general has a much larger conservative population than it would seem.....just that they are the silent majority. Around here, 90% of the news is brought up by green-party types who represent a very small percentage of locals. Most of them are average people....business owners, working dudes, government employees, etc.

Just drive through Nelson during the middle of the day when most people are supposed to be working, you can see all the people who love the NDP.

i found it pretty funny how the green party didnt even get one seat.
