Time to get rid of wifes avalanche. Never done this before but going foreign. leaning twords the camery also looking into the hybrid 32 city 34 highway anyone have any of these. most likly will get the 4 banger

buy american

should i buy another chevy and let it sit in the shop for three months waiting for axial shaft. the camery is 75% us manfactured and 25% jap. i would bet that GM is almost 25% manufacted over seas also

Both the Camry and Accord are great cars. A friend had the 4cyl Accord, last model, and it was a good car. The 6 cyl does use more gas (I have this engine in wifes van) but also more power to pass, etc. No more hybrid with Honda though, the Hybrid Accord was dropped.

Toyota Camry is also good but quality has fallen off with latest models...according to JD Power. Hybrids....buy if you wish but sell before warranty is gone. Personally I'd use the money saved by not buying a hybrid and put in in gas. Hybrid maintenance costs more and fuel comsumption figures are very overstated.

Honda vs Toyota for maintenance I personally prefer Toyota. Honda treats you like an idiot, thinking its their car and they know best. Example: Honda changes oil every 5K miles first change oil only and keep dirty filter, next change both oil & filter changed. An arguement each time I've had my Honda in for an oil change when I don't have the time to do it. They don't want to change the filter...why leave a dirty filter with clean oil is my question. Toyota listens to the customer, recommends stuff but in the end there's no arguement.

What's your definition of American? Most foreign car companies are assembling in the US. ALL Toyota trucks are built stateside. The American car companies have just as many import parts on theirs as the imports...and they don't match up to the quality. Not being unpatriotic, just stating the facts.

I prefer the Camry with the factory body kit myself...lots of room, good mileage on the 4, and just an all around good looking car. Have a few co-workers with the hybrids and unless you are driving in town most of the time, not worth the extra $, though you do get a nice tax write off. Nothing bad to say about the Hondas though.

.

I'm hearing (work at an import facility) next year's Accord will be offered with an optional diesel engine.

I've rented both many times..... more miles on the Camry though. There's a reason these are the 2 best selling cars in the world..... for what they cost they are damn good (I put 1000 miles on a brand spank'n new Grand Prix this week and other than a pretty powerful engine.... it isn't in the same league as these two Japs).

Camry's advantage over Accord - a little less road noise and a little smoother riding.
Accord's advantage over Camry - sportier handling, a little nicer interior and a little better looking IMO.

Interior room and 4 cyl. power and mileage is about the same(which is very good). I'd buy the Accord if I was shopping.

I work for both GM and Honda and bang for the buck, the new Malibu is a great car. Wait a couple of months and it's available in a hybrid model.

Both great cars. Honda handles way better than the Toyota. Toyota is more plush but boats around a bit more. I don't feel that you will regret buying either one. We have had over the past 25 years three Honda's with over 200K on each with no big ticket items:face-icon-small-win We now have a Maxima, with right at 185K on it. With proper maintenance these cars go the distance. Dino

We had over 250,000 miles on our Camry when we sold it. Besides tires, brakes, oil changes, and one timing belt, the car just ran. Fantastic car for the money.
If I was picking between the two, I would go with the one you think looks the best, and feels the most comfortable. They are both great cars.

Hahaha Sawyer. My American made truck was assembled in Mexico!

My parents have ran Camarys for awhile now. Only complaint form my old man is that the newer(i think 07) they swapped the gearing a bit for better mileage and now it does alot of searching for the right gear on any sort of hill.

I have also heard Toyotas quality is dropping off a bit.

If it was me I would go Honda, they seem to be a bit cheaper and from talking to dealers/mechanics it's not really worth going for the certified on the used ones. Only thing I don't like is that you have to jump to the top line model to get power seat, etc.

I know my wifes next car(she gets the nice stuff while I drive a Probe) will more then likely be a Accord.

Can't go wrong either way, but I'd look at overall costs and which one you can get the best deal on. The last car I bought for myself was a maxima. I was looking at honda, acura, toyota, lexus, nissan. I wasn't dead set on one model either, instead I was looking which one that had the equipment, condition, and the cheapest price. I was in the car biz for 12 years and wouldn't waste my money to buy a new car. Way too much depreciation, tax, and plate fees for me.

Go drive them both.

I would also look at the Nissan. I really liked the Altima but that is a bit smaller. Take a look at the Maxima.

Honda has proven to make a quality/reliable car for wife and I. We have 2
Accords, 1993 with 285k and a 2003 with 50k and only normal maintenance items required. Would buy nothing but a Honda. Toyota's are good, but I am very biased to Honda.

seriously, go test drive a new malibu... i did this weekend on a whim and came away SERIOUSLY impressed... i found it to be a much nicer car than the 07 camry i drove last year... haven't driven a new accord recently, but i'd take a malibu over the camry in a heartbeat...

fwiw - I've always been in a ford family, but this new malibu is a very nice car... there's a reason it won car of the year...

Always been a Toy/Honda person, reliability = resale.

But, I really think GM has got something with this new Malibu. The reliability diehards will wait 5 to 10 years to see how it holds up before they buy one, initial reports look good. GM also needs to hold their prices with these things. The big 3 are making almost $3000 less per vehicle than Toy/Honda because americans won't support/pay for there products. HOLD THE PRICE, build only what you need.

BREAKING NEWS.......... Today the UAW went on stike on the Malibu plant.
These guys sure know how to ruin progress.
