Caged Bearings 05 REV

So I'm replacing my pistons and rings in an 05 REV 800. I'm still on the fence about aftermarket vs OEM. I'm down to SPI and OEM. I would like to install caged bearings but I'm not sure if they will work with OEM. Does anyone have experience with caged bearing in OEM pistons and if so who can I get them from?

I'm also wondering if anyone knows where to find a tool for the cir clips or is this a dealer item only? Everyone I've talking to says they're a pain in the a#$.

Oem all the way it may be more money but its worth it. Use cageless needle bearings, find a socket that is the same size as your wrist pin, I think its a 14 mm socket put vaseline on the socket and install all the needle on to the socket with the two end rings and Install the bearing in to the connecting rod. when you drive the wrist pin in it will push the socket out and you wont drop all the needles into the crank case. The circlips arent to bad on a 800 a good set of needle nose pliers and a good pick set will work.

When you buy the new oem cageless bearings they come in case's. Just make sure have all of the old needle bearings before you start putting your engine back togather. I would use caged bearings if it was mine. But just my two cents

Caged bearings are the way to go. Easy to install and uninstall. They will be the last thing to fail on a ski doo motor. As for pistons, there is nothing wrong with an SPI piston in a stock application. Make sure the ring end gaps are filed within spec.
