bushing replacement ?!?!?

well the bushings in the p-85 on my polaris 900 were getting sloppy so i decided to replace them. with a LITTLE bit of heat from a berz-o-matic . the old bushings drove out pretty easily! putting the new ones in seems to be a different story! the bushings seem to be pretty fragile!

has any one done thier own bushing replacement before? if so what was your technique? i see that you can get the bushing drivers from SPX tools. but they are kinda pricey .

i figure im going to heat the sheave and cover up with the torch again, maybe she'll expand enough that the bushings will drop right in!

any body!?!?

Without a proper driver setup you will have to rig something up to push on so the bushing doesn't get damaged. sounds like you found that out! Warm up the sheave and freeze the bushing then try pressing it in as opposed to pounding.

Bushings are currently in the freezer. And mythe dealer is tryingthe to locatethe the drivers.Has anyone else tackled this job themselves? ? How was your experience? Tips or tricks??

I've done it a couple times before with a press and an appropriately sized socket. Never had a problem.

Yep, i used the vise, a socket to fit snugly inside the bushing and one to push the bushing into the primary cover, A little lubricant and it slide right on in no problem. I did however do it wrong the first time i tried it, i was dumb and didn't put a socket inside the bushing, crushed it into bits. $30 down the drain.. Oh well you learn from your mistakes.
