build with a propane turbo!( got a few questions!

I would also think about a different turbo kit. The propane burners are extremely bulky because of the tanks. Now if they would build you a single 8" tank and sink it down in the tunnel as far as possible, then it would be one hell of a kit.

I may be missunderstanding you on what you meen by bulky, but if you are refering to weight, yes the plastic gas tank would be lighter than the aluminum cylinders, but propane is a lighter fuel than gas and if you compare the 10 gal gas tank full of gas too the 2 6 gal cylinder full of propane the weight is bassically a wash. There are always trade offs too every kit, one BIG bonus too propane is fuel cost, we rode revy, sicamous, golden for one day each in good snow put on 130 miles ran my apex at 20psi boost and cost me $60 in sled fuel for the whole trip,if i didn't do a propane I would have done a race impulse kit, their sh** is top notch as well, happy boosting you will like it:D:D

I think he meant how big they are??:confused:
Fuel cost is number one! ( more so for us Cunucks hey chris79?)
In any other sled you'll use at least $30-35 dollars a day! ( depending what you ride) And race gas for us is out of this earth!:eek:
IN my 740 union bay ill burn 28 liters a day on fuel and then you got you good old 2 stroke oil! Iam running Amsoil in my sled! ( glad i didnt have to pay for it):cool:

thanks for the input chris79!:beer;
What do you think of the propane power compared to the high boost race gas turbos?

I thought that is what he meant just wanted to clarrify for ya. these are some ruff fuel weights Gas 6.5lbs/gal, propane 4.2lbs/gal
boost for boost propane will make a little less hp. We figured you will have too run 2psi more on propane to equal the race gas kits. now that is a very general statement, some guys have found wicked power gains from the proper engine work, wich may make for a wider gap yet,but on a mediokerly (not even sure if thats a word:))tuned race kit, they are no faster, maybe even a bit slower (seen it up close:D) but as a rule be prepared to run a bit more boost to to equal them. bottom line 20psi boost on any 4 banger for your first time...you might poop a little :beer;:beer;:)

go with a nytro, put an EZ ride skid on if you want. get a propane turbo kit for it. with that set up there would be a lot less custom fabing and it will cost less...leaving you with more money to put into they nytro chassis

ya! EZ ryde skid, 174" track, propane turbo, CR 174 Tunnel, simmons gen 2 skis and thats it!!;);)

"bottom line 20psi boost on any 4 banger for your first time...you might poop a little "?????????????

i liked the "you might poop a little" part too! its a true story! but i would stick with the stock skis. had gen II's on my apex, didnt realize how much they sucked untell i got back on a stock apex. same way with the nytro. they are great in the powder, i loved them, but on trails and in spring riding they are not fun to turn. now if someone made a wide ski with a single skag... that would be a good ski

Ok so ill leave the stock skis! Can i get the CR RACING 7 tooth drivers?;)

my MPI apex was just right for me (handling) at 12 pounds of boost. my moms nytro at 15 i felt was a bit much at times at certain snow conditions. i have rode a RX-1 at 15 and felt the same way. its alot of power and speed to controll. i plan on running my t apex at 17 or 18 pounds. its gonna take a while to get used to after gettin off a MPI apex @ 12 pounds. good luck hanging on to 20 pounds! it'll be a rush. ill be willing to bet you cant hold it wide open for more then 5 seconds without it scaring the **** out of you ( i have been there) but we dont have long hills here so thats another story

If fuel cost is why your going propane then why not an impulse PG kit running 17lbs on 91oct with standalone!!! which im sure will be plenty of power for you!!! Pretty big price diffrence between that and a propane turbo kit!

Remember that you will have to have some sort of filling station setup with propane. Not as easy as pouring in gasoline!

Actually filling up with propane is super easy, hook up the line from the storage tank, then go get dressed, 5 mins later its done, no spills. Alot easier than waiting in line at the pumps or messing with mixing race fuel. Just my two cents.
