Buddy just called and he sank his King ranch ford!

Just got a call from good friend wanting to borrow my truck to recover his truck and his boat. He went out to the lake to try out his brand new boat and when he was unloading it his truck popped out of gear and rolled back into the lake. He was by himself, He said it was a helpless feeling trying to get his boat back to other side of dock and jump out of it to try and stop his truck. All was lost it went windshield deep.

I am heading to Omaha to sled meeting so I cant go to help him, but his wife just left here with my truck to go to the lake. He said he called a tow truck and they told him they cant help, he needs to call a recovery company. He was like "isnt that you". He is NOT happy today. I just texted him for a picture so will post them tommorow when I get back. Truck was a beautiful 08 King ranch crew cab dually. Weather you like Ford or not that is still a shame. I hope his insurance is good.

Ha Ha Ha we used to get alot of entertainment parking our boat near the boat ramps with a case of beer and snacks and watching the circus. Seriously I hope he is well insured cause it's gonna cost a bundle. Swampy:D:beer;

What year of truck is it?

My buddy dropped his '01 Ford in a slough (fell through the ice in deer season) and they couldn't get it out with a tractor. Left it overnight and had to get a contractor out in the morning to knock the ice out with a track hoe and pull it out. He brought it into my shop to melt it out. It was an ice cube from the bottom of the seats, down. Insurance ended up writing it off.

Here are some picture from a recovery we did 2 years ago. The kid was driving on dry ground near the edge of the lake. Got stuck. It was memeorial day weekend and by the time we got back into town and got out to help the truck was 100' out. It took divers and a full day to pull it out. Truck was a complete loss and DEQ was threatening them with huge daily fines if they didn't get the truck out of the water immediately.

Please tell me whomever DIDNT hook onto the rear axle to pull it out of the water!

Notice the frame is all twisted as well. My guess is it was pretty well sucked into mud and took a bit of convincing to break it loose. Guys here lose them on the beach here in the ocean all the time. I came real close on time. I was stuck deep inough in the water launching my boat on the sand beach that my truck swallowed salt water in the carb and died! Now we had to try to winch it out dead. Manged to get it only because the surf lifted it up and floated it while winching on it. Got very lucky not to lose it completely. Tide comes in and goes out and they are no where to be found. Or worse yet, They are where they got stuck at, but now after one tide cycle, the entire truck is packed tight with sand. Totally tight in the cab, inside motors ect. Now they way many tons. That is when DEC comes by and tells you that you have to get it removed. You start wishing that it had got washed out instead.:beer;

I saw it happen to a bunch of drunks in a nearly new dodge mega cab over the 4th of july weekend. That dipchit just forgot to put in drive rather than rerverse after unlaoding the boat. Sitting at the marina on one of the big holiday weekends is always fun!

Atleast the engine should be fine as the intake is above the water. And a fresh water lake is nothing compared to saltwater! Carpets and interior will be a mess.

His insurance guy was here today and he is thinking a good detail should fix it:mad:

That should about do it. :eek: Just show me the carfax, LMFAO! Who in their right mind would allow that as a settlement? I would tell that guy to pound sand.

I sank a toyota PU that far in the 80's. Left it sit overnight. Next day we pulled it out, Pulled the plugs and rolled engine over to insure no water on top of the pistons. Drained, oil/water out of engine. Filled it with kerosene. Ran at idle for 5 min. Drained and put new oil and filter. Drained water off bottom of differentials and tranny-manual. Drove home. Ran with heater on to dry out interior for 12 hrs.

I had it for three more years, never had a problem.

I agree, this thing has the Nav and all the goodies. Heck the touch screen is covered in moisture inside.

Just like a cell phone, if it isn't powered up while it's still wet it will be ok. ;)

My buddy bought a cheap Ford Ranger for $500 when we were in college. One weekend we went out and did some lake drivin', long story short it went to the bottom. He just decided to leave it there, MOE found out it was there, found out it was his and charged $5000 a day till it was removed. Ended up costing him near $10g's for a $500 truck.
