BRP – Do I ever need to vent!!!

BRP – Do I ever need to vent!!!

So I pay 3 grand more to buy my XP at the local dealer so I can get warranty, I keep my 07 800 as backup sled since the XP is a first year model and unknown and I can’t afford not to be without a sled. Well my 07 had low compression at the end of the November, the dealer was too busy to look at it (due to all the XP problems). First week of December it blows, Dealer says no short blocks available and no piston wrist pin bearing to do a top end. Well after waiting over TWO months I finally get it back with just a top end done on it done and first ride out it blows. It now been at the dealers for over a week and still nothing, pretty close to 3 months now since I told the dealer it had a problem. So everyone know the problems with the XP drive shafts (except BRP and the dealers) and I keep telling the dealer I wanted it welded and that finally BRP is allowing 1.5 hours shop time for the dealer to do it. Well he didn’t even know that and said nobody could do it in 1.5 Hrs. Well today I was checking the sled over and took it for a short rip around the field. I pin it and bang the drive shaft blows. New right away what it was because of all the posts on the different forums (to bad BRP doesn’t read them they might learn something). So phone the dealer up tell him it going to be there first thing in the morning and he says he doesn’t have any shafts in stock. What kind of BULLSH!T is this. Of the 13 sleds I have these are the only 2 still under warranty and they are the only 2 that don’t run. The day before it blew I was over 100Km from the trailhead, there was no way it was getting towed from that far back. When is BRP going to do a recall on these sleds? Looks like I will be riding my 04 for a while.

Brother Ray, I feel your pain, I'm starting a counseling group(type of theraphy) for all us consumers that keep buying these new sleds, all brands included, that put up with inferrior products that are just not reliable EVEN WITH A WARRENTY. I'm going back to building my own sled F**K tHE WARRENTY, Amen Red Dog. Backcountry snowmachiner.

Sounds like your dealer is an idiot and putting the screws to ya!!!Brp had better get their S H I T together and stop using us customers for their R&D........theres going be alot of us riding 09 Dragons if this BS keeps up:mad:(alot of friends jumped ship this year and theres no looking back)

That's too bad your having all these issues with new equipment Ray. I was thinking of getting a 07 or 08 but now I'd better think again. Maybe a 06 is the way to go?

That sucks, pi$$es a guy off when new toys are down, no matter which brand.
Maybe post this in the Doo section, hopefully it may help one of those fellas with this information.

wow sounds like my year. kept the 07 as a backup and rode it more than the xp until it blew a motor. pick up the xp and 3 days after it got out of the shop it breaks the driveline. dealer says no bearings in stock theyll be a couple weeks. My suggestion is call brp customer service and start a complaint file. the dealer had back ordered bearings in 3 days after i started a file and doo says they will settle with me for lost time since my sled has been in the shop all year.

less miles you get on your sled less warentee work they have to pay for so now all parts ship out in one month after orders are made + one week delivery and thats only if its in stock??? And with this much bs failures we no longer have parts in stock so see yeah next when your warentee expires!!!!!!

That totally sucks Ray....I am sure you are more than frustrated.... Sounds to me like you need to have a come to Jesus meeting with Alby...I imagine it has something to do with the cancellation order....which should have no bearing whatsoever on the warranty work that was due...I felt the same way and had a face to face and then stuff happened a little more promptly...I think the driveshaft issue is total crap and for professional users like you and i and all the others whose life may depend on the reliability of these EXPENSIVE machines...the fact that BRP has not issued a recall on the driveshaft is TOTAL BULLShhhhht.....t
you are so lucky that it didn't puke 100k out and you had to heli out....I hope that all the people that are frustrated with their issues get in their dealers faces and email the local reps so they get off there butts and fix these issues. The sleds are awesome...they have come up with a great winner and now they are losing credibility on a minor recall!.. Hope to ride with you soon.. Trevor and the gang was up this past weekend diggin out the cat and the cans... He took my xp out...hope it makes it back from the icecap!

It doesn't have much to do with the dealer it's all on brp, after being a loyal brp subject owning the first summit in 94.5 and about every model year sinse i got tired of back ordered short blocks and 100 dollar a piece rings and i did not own one seriously that did not let go, crank bearings, clutch blow, rings(x10), stator(x2 or 3) piston blew apart most recent and took out hole motor punching a hole in the case, guess what every other yellow 600 on the planet must be broke down too was months on back order for me. God knows how many premature blown belts in the old 670x days. I realy should have kept track the list could go on and on. I could never forgive myself if i had blown that kind of money on the xp, needless to say now i ride cat and will NEVER support something that puts out the junk you have to deal with with BRP. If all the brand loyalist's would just jump ship (if there ego would allow) for a year and brp had no sales then they would look at some serious reliability issues. Just look at the few years for polaris and look what happened now.

As sad as this sounds, I think you're on to something...

Nope sorry no sympathy here.

Nope sorry no sympathy here.

Not sure you going to get a friendly response out of that one. It sounds like these guys living depends on having these machines up and running and the ability (or inability) to get parts to repair them.

I worked as a mechanic for a rental fleet in west yellowstone for a couple of years. Talked to the owners a couple weeks ago, said the only sleds they can't keep on the snow are the XP's. They have a fleet with every man. Dragons are holding up, M's are great, and the apex and nytros are as good as ever. XP's constantly in the shop.
