Broken Spring Steel Reeds

Ovs tested these reeds and on a 41 mile ride they took out both pistons and the center section in the turbo at 8lbs of boost. It's great the problem was caught but a call from Justin would have been nice before the damage was done to the motor and turbo. The other thing was after contacting Justin he was not willing to make any attemp to help with the damage to the engine or the turbo. These reeds need some serious testing before they are sold to anyone.

I spoke to Glenn Hall last week and he hadn't received his Cat reeds with the metal grain in the correct direction. I am not going to try them again until Glenn has tested them.

By the way, our new Boyesen Reeds lasted a couple of rides and then full windows of reed petals got ingested. Had to ride out on one lung last week.

Tewstroke

I have been using the TDR turbo reeds all season. Over 1000 miles on 10 lbs and no problems. What would the benefit of steel be?

I don't think they solved the problem. At fairview this weekend I got to see a bad failure on one of the new sets. I have no idea why anyone would trust these things they do some nasty damage. I hate to say it but they are crap!

OVS tried the latest version of the CAT steel reeds with similar results. Travis told me yesterday that they started failing within a short time. So, changing the direction metal grain doesn't make 'em last either.

OVS tested the new version of the steel reeds. We made 2 passes at the hill at fairview and the reeds failed. One reed on full petal went through the motor and the other reed had a 1\4 inch of the bottom of all the pedals were missing. This is the second set of pistons that the reeds have ruined and the stock reeds made it 746 miles before they had to be replaced.
