Broken primary spring

Newbie question, Can the sled be ridden back to the truck with a broke spring? if not do I just need a 13/16 and a 3/8 to remove the outer clutch to replace the spring if I carry a extra?

Appreciate the info!:tea:

Yup, pretty easy change out with a 3/8 socket and wrench!!

I just got word today that when the spring broke it chewed up the cap on the primary. Polaris is replacing the entire primary clutch less the weights. Now that is one exspensive spring. I am stoked I have a 4 yr warrenty. I will be carrying an extra spring from now on.

Stone

Hmmm...Mine chewed it up a little too...time to call the dealer and see what they will do!

3/8" socket and ratchet are easiest, but a 3/8" box end wrench will do the job. I pull out three bolts first, evenly spaced, then back out the remaining 3 bolts as evenly as possible to prevent the cover from "cocking" to one side. You do not need to remove the clutch retaining bolt.

One other thing. Make sure you reinstall the clutch cover in the exact position as when you took it off. This is critical for clutch balance. There is an "X" on the cover and corresponding X's on the spider and moveable sheave. Make sure they're lined up on assembly.

Sent from my iPhone when I should be sledding.
