So my sled (2012 Pro) has 150 miles on it and the primary spring broke. How many of you guys with Pros are having this issue? Is there an aftermarket springs out there that will hold up better? Thanks

Stone

I broke 1 stock one and 2 aftermarket ones last year. Not sure what the issue was with the stock one, but the EPI ones that I broke were too long of a spring and I never noticed on install and would end up binding then breaking

I agree winter brew but im hoping that is not the case with the pro springs because alot of them broke last year, including two of my riding partners. My spring never broke but I put a team spring in it this year, it had around 850 miles on it from last year.

150 miles on my 2012 Pro and mine took out an almond 165/310 spring this weekend...

Not sure what the deal is here...just keep a spare along or what???

i dont have a 2012 but last year my primary broke at like 300 miles on my 2011

Troy sorry to hear that! I have 300 miles on mine and maybe I better check mine. So far no problems. Keep us posted on this situation. I know you ride that thing like it's on fire, but the primary spring should't break??

Let's just say I don't baby the sled when it comes to throttle position!!!

But nonetheless...didn't expect a primary spring to snap in half after 150 miles.

Oh well, they are cheap and I will keep an extra on hand cause with that spring it flat out ripped!!

I broke 1 on my PRO at like 100 miles. Dealer replaced on Warranty. I have heard of a few sleds with this issue.

Hey Larry, How was the weekend? We had some epic snow on Saturday. 2ft in most areas by Tumalo and the office. Rode on untracked snow all day. I noticed my sled was only pulling about 7700 rpms with a little noise at the primary. It was the broken spring. I called Cascade, Scott gave me a spring under warrenty and a buddy of mine had a friend pick up the spring so I could keep riding this weekend. That is GREAT service. Went up today and the snow had settled alot and was pretty tracked up but we did find some good untracked pow on the north facing sides of the mountains. Good day today. Sled is back up to 8250-8300 rpms. This thing flat out rips. I will just pick up a spare to carry with me.
Not much snow in the forcast for a while. SUCKS! Later. Also thanks guys for the input. Sounds like its comman and just have to carry a spare. My Dragon never broke a clutch spring just cranks, pistons, cylinder, and cases.

Broken primary spring failure....

I broke a primary spring yesterday, 124 miles on my 2012 163 pro, my buddy broke one on his 2011 163 last year after only three rides, he got the slp blue/pink put in under warranty, I got that one put in myself today, the sled is definately more responsive, and holds rpms better. My buddy now has 1400 miles on his sled, no further problems, (knock on wood). IMO I believe poo got a batch of crap springs, and is taking care of the broken ones as they occur.

SLP Blue/Pink in primary- is this basically a direct replacement of stock?

How about the secondary then- still running the stock one in there?

Are these springs working the same as stock to the point that you

just need to change wts?

I don't see a common denominator here. Both me and my buddies 2011 Pro's went well over 1,000 miles w/o changing that spring. I haven't heard of many cranks going on Pro's either (maybe one or two?). So while I agree with the concept of springs breaking with other issues, there doesn't seem to be many. What gives? Just bad clutches?

SLP blue/pink is 140/340
Stock is 140/330
With the 10 lb higher finish on the SLP bl/pk, I think you'll see an increase of 100-200 rpm at full throttle.

Check your jam nuts in the clutch. Make sure it doesn't have any sharp edges where the 1/2 moons are cut in it for the jam nut tool to catch it. I've seen there be burrs or sharp edges there that the spring can contact and over a short time it breaks the spring. Just check it and its not smooth hit it with a little file to clean it off.
