Have the jackshafts been updated? Broke my jackshaft new years day. Luckily I was in an area where I could pull it home. Borrowed my brothers sled I broke the jackshaft in that as well but in a place where we had to leave it. Tried to retrieve it yesterday but wasn't able to get it out. I also know of someone who broke one and had to get theirs helicoptered out. All 2012 sleds.
Is it possible to change the jackshaft out in the mountain? what kinda tools will we need? Any tricks to make it easier?

there is more of a problem with the 2012 shafts but also seen 13 and 14's break already and they were 800's with less power.
you can change it out on the mountain but you might freeze your nut off wouldn't you?
If its that cold you will need a small torch to heat up the TCL when you go to hit the shaft out, its all going to depend on what was ruined in the chain case too, gears, chain and such.
I have instructions for my 300M shafts with the collar delete system but that might not give you what you need for instructions if your going to put a stock shaft back in
If you want to give me a call I can explain it better to cut corners that cat has people do to R&R a shaft

I spent a day standing in a creek bottom putting a center piston in a 900 triple years ago, you can change a jackshaft on the hill.

I would bring Digger with me-- he has been through this kinda crap before. I have swapped out a motor in a 800 XP in a deep canyon.... so yes it should be able to be done but I would bring a torch for the bearing banging..... a Mr Heater works wonders for cold hands out in the back country and packs in/out pretty easilly......
