Broken Intake Boot Bolt!!!

Broken bolt

I twisted off one of the bolts that hold on the throttle body intake boot to the case. Boots required replacement so i figured that should be an easy job. After fighting with oil cable ( which needs to be replaced ) snap goes the bolt. Anyone have exp with it, it was one of the lower bolts. Will the engine need to come out, i done it just before i left for work this morning and didnt get a chance to size it up. If the engine does require removal, does the pirmary clutch need to come off to get it out??

:mad:

Intake boot to the clutch? they dont bolt to the clutch. if its the lower intake boot bolt you should be able to get at that, with out taking motor out.

Ya if you dont have a welder use a nut like they said ,that will go over that ,and use JB weld pack it right in the hole let it sit for a day or two turn it out .if that dont work you will dif have to weld it. watch out for the oil you will start a fire.

Thxs guys for the info, i guess i missed this thread. Im not sure how much of the bolt is left in the case but i do know that a fair bit came off with the head, i hope not too much. Will keep you all informed.

Well just when you think things cant get any worse, you break two bolt on the second boot. Wouldn't you just love to get your hands on the guy putting the red loctite on those bolts......... Its really looking like a motor pulled job now. Never had it out before in fact never pulled one from any sled before. Now I know i have the ability being an aircraft mechanic, just thinking about it gives me the willies. I guess me being the owner does that.

Can you pull the engine out with out removing the primary clutch? If so how??

Oh and for the bolts when i go to heat them can i just pull the 2 bolts for the oil pump and remove it??

you don't have to remove the clutch but I would. Keeps you from using it as a lift point.(don't ask me how I know) If you wanna remove it you have to have a specific clutch puller which you can order from some of the forum vendors, or may be able to borrow one from the dealer.

All bolts out!!!!!! Thanks for the info guys the "weld a nut" worked perfect. :beer;:beer;:beer; Beers for everone:beer;:beer;:beer;

my brother in law blew a crank bearing on his 1000 summit..........it needed like a $110 of different loc tights and greases..... i was like f*ck that noise that sounds like bs, he got a bunch of industrial stuff from work for free. luckly hes a millwright. i said to just use red on the motor and blue on anything you might need to take off again..........hhahaha ski-doo what a joke. and that stupid chassis that you have to pull the motor out sideways
