Broken drive shafts on 2016 axys??

My 14 pro had a melted bellypan and trashed belt from the dealer. I noticed it when i got it home, zero miles. It had to be when they had it lifted up with forks doing the pdi. This was from a very reputable dealer, they took care of me and sent me a brand new belt and offered a new bellypan but I opted to just put a guard on it from VanAmburg and that covered the tiny hole melted in it. They would have put the bellypan on but i did not want to drive the 3 hours one way to take it back and to me it was not a big deal. So to those saying they hit something to cause those melted belts and bellypans you are most likely wrong and especially if they have zero miles like mine did.

We like to use wooden palates to try not to have issues like above. It works very well

Didn't see the no miles, guess he hit a forklift.

Mechanic at reputable dealer: "This thing sounds really grindy when the track moves?"

Other mechanic: "Hammer down son, we have 14 of these to set up today.."

Mechanic 1: "Sure is a lot of black smoke and plastic falling out the bottom."

Other mechanic: "Send it out!"

Mechanic 1: "But there is a hole in the belly pa.."

Other mechanic: "Send. It. Out."

And it's unfortunate that dealers can't pay a tech enough money to stay or at least the good ones! check it over and fix it your self if you have the knowledge! :)

I've seen those wooden pallets many times!! LOL

As a matter of fact I copied them and now there are 5 of them living at my house. It's how I move my sleds around all the time.

Weekender Sports is a great dealer -

To date...The AXYS mtn sleds are the most exposed, in terms of driveshaft/drive of any stock Polaris to date...

IMO...A STURDY skid plate for the drive train is pretty much mandatory with the AXYS-Mtn sleds with the QuickDrive™

Agreed! My WRP plate has been on order for a week now but I haven't seen it show up. Getting worried since I have a Turkey day trip planned, early season riding needs as much protection as possible!

I think wrp is backordered, it says "reserve one now" whatever that means, who else makes a good guard?

I see that now, don't believe it said that a week ago when I ordered. Guess I'll shoot them an email and see whats up.

Rode sled in Revy yesterday, no problems at all. Very nice sled, gets on top of snow very easy. Lay's over very easy with sway bar in. Snow was good but visibility was not.

My uncle who is a Polaris mechanic pointed out to me while looking at the new AXYS driveshaft is exposed and unprotected more that the proride chassis meaning the driveshaft is further down past the belly pan. Back in the day I had a custom chassis with a dropped & rolled chain case and driveshaft exposed. I hit a covered rock and bent the solid steel driveshaft.
He predicted broken driveshafts before any snowfall. hmmm.

Hey guys, be careful before screaming at your dealer if your lower pulley has rubbed into the belly pan plastic. I have found and did it to my own, that backing the sled off the deck in reverse, with the angle of the ramp, allows the sled to high center and it will push the belly pan plastic right up into the lower pulley.

I have also seen 2 sleds that were sitting on sled lifts and the belly pan plastic was wedged into the lower pulley. Running the sled on the sled lift caused it, totally obvious.

This will cause the pulley to melt and grind up the plastic and stick to the belt.

Good point dave- I installed a 1x2 square tubing to my sled lift in the upper section last week- as I notice that the front horzional bar would not allow enough lift to let the QD drop to clear the brace-
Work's better now and went to ACE and bought an adhesive rubber strip to secure the bar under the belly pan area for additional prevention against slippage.

This is why I went to an aluminum QD skid plate- as the rolled and lowered protrusion invites carnage..
