Broken carbon upper support??

there was a proclimb and a summitt that were ridding with me they hit the same approach about the same spot and they got to ride the rest of the day it wasn't an approach u would hit at 40 and fly thirty feet in the air I don't really know how to explain it the other 2 mountain sleds held up and got to ride the rest of the day,

that is my own sled. read the previous comments you would know what they say.. I said they are junk b/c there is 40 miles on the sled and Polaris wouldn't back there product no trees, rocks, never rolled it, if it cant hold up to a little approach then the sure the hell aren't going to hold up in the mountains especially the guys running turbos. if u don't have problems its probably b/c u ride like a little girl, oh yea I own a 800 pro but a 440 would be plenty big

My bad I got distracted and didn't notice there was a few more responses when it refreshed the page. Haha.. Getting a little defensive are we? I have smacked quite a few stumps, trees, and I have had no problems.

was out in cooke in the middle of dec. i broke the carbon fiber overstrue on the left side and right side is pulling out. the dealer will be fixing it next monday. it could just be a freak thing. they will also be looking for other damage

I've got a pic on my phone of my buddies that broke. I can't get it to Load from here. Can I email it to someone to post ?

The single photograph of a broken carbon fiber frame member looks very much like an external impact type of situation versus a load failure. Carbon fiber is tough stuff. I have had two mountain bikes made out of carbon fiber and I have never had a problem. I hate to be too skeptical here but I think that the Cat and Doo guys like to stir the pot and make future purchasers nervous so they will buy their overweight offerings instead.

I have an ipod that can take pics, I got a beautiful little nikon pocket camera for my birthday awhile ago, I even bought a gopro a month ago but I haven't used it yet. For me the wheels fall off when I try to post pics to the internet, I'm a dummy when it comes to that kind of thing, so maybe if there isn't any pics right away it isn't because it's BS, maybe it's someone like me who needs a little help. :face-icon-small-blu

You too? I handed my cell phone to one of my students and asked him to delete all the Texts because I didn't know how. He started laughing so hard he started to cry. I asked "whats the deal". He said "I have never seen a phone with an antana before".
My phone does not take pictures and I don't own a digital camera. If someone tells me something, I take it for the truth and would feel that I am insulting them to ask for PROOF of it with a picture.

How do you go about fixing somthing like that? My bulkhead had some of the glue in one of the holes that the motor mount bolts are accessed and I had a heck of a time getting the glue out of that hole. With the fiber tube glued into the frame, it has got to be a bugger to remove and get all the glue out so a new one can be glued in.

C'mon man I'm sure some die hard cat or doo guy bought a pro and hit the tube with the hammer to break it! I can almost guarantee that Polaris don't make the carbon tubes, they most likey buy them in bulk as there are numerous company's who sell structural carbon pieces. So that mean we are talking about a mass produced piece of carbon which in sure is subject to a certain % of failure. Just cause they aren't breaking as fast as drive shafts and belt drives are going down doesn't mean there isn't an issue. Specially since poo won't warranty it, that's jut garbage! I feel there becomes a point where it ain't worth it to the customer to save those few OZ of weight over having a headache to worry about. Sometimes it's about piece of mind knowing you have nothing to worry about then "hey I have most flickable chassis in the world"

Here's a funny story, I have a buddy who works for the local poo/doo dealership gets to take all the demo sleds out all the time, so him and his ol lady take a 13 doo and 13 poo out for a ride, and he said the poo just feels like it wants to fall apart just sitting there idling, lots of vibrations and rattles compared to the 13 doo! Take it with a grain of salt and I'm not selling either sled cause I'm a cat guy and I think both doo and poo are junk IMO (yes that's MY opinion) but I know plenty who love the poo and who ride the wheels off them. But not this guy

This was not caused by external force but normal aggressive Mtn riding. I rode with him all day. No major hits tumbles or trees. We also have about 2 ft of powder too so its been pretty soft. Looks to me like it has separated. I haven't seen it in person yet.

I don't have anything to gain here and not bashing Polaris (thats what ive got) Just seems like every light weight part on these things is having issues. The assault may have been a better choice for a lot of guys riding hard in the mountains.

i have a 2013 pro rmk with 45 miles on it both carbon fiber overstrcutures broke on the first approach I hit. Polaris will not back there product b/c it didn't happen in the mountains Polaris can shove it up there ***. should of bought a cat. I do have pics of the right side. sent me an email.

I call BS on this. Whats the difference if you are in the mountains or ditch banging the Midwest? I would be embarrassed to even post that statement.

only just noticed this today when i had my hood off. 1200 km on it at the moment. hit a rock when i had about 250kms and bent my lower right a-arm. The bumper and plastics looked fine so not sure if it happened when i hit the rock or not. the piece of the overstructure thats broke is the left side that the steering column tie rod goes to. :face-icon-small-fro

I'll ttake that one step further and claim most people wouldn't even make a statement like that.

Yep, those Poo engineers are pretty bold, drilling holes in structural carbonfiber to hold on some wires. Same tube on the other side.

If they didn't order too many I think next year we will see a different method of mounting the wires.

Trail banging a mtn sled..........sweet.

Alot of guys in the Midwest buy mountain sleds and ride ditches when we get snow here and travel thousands of miles to ride in the great conditions you guys have out west. Mtn sled or not doesn't mean it shouldn't/can't be ridden in ditches.
