broke ZL500....help

It is a 1999 carb. I think i have ruled out the kill switch and the ignition, but how would you go about checking those just out of curiosity? What do i check next and how?

no spark, means now electricity. Sleds are fairly simple. Electricity is generated by the stator when the flywheel starts moving. It is then going to go to the power pack/cdi, then to your coils. Which then sends the current to your spark plugs. thats about all that stands in the way between you having spark and not. if stator is out your light usually won't even flicker when you pull on the rope. Thats about the easiest way to test the stator without an actual tester. If it isn't that then look at your plug wires going back to your coils. Unfortunately without a tester it is just trial and error and can become pricey. hope that helps.
Probably the most common failure is the stator going bad...usually a $500 deal parts and labor. can be cheaper with a refurb stator. good luck and enjoy the snow.
