Breaking down an M7 Primary Clutch

Ok, I'm getting ready to take my primary apart and have a few questions...

What's the trick to removing the jam nut and the spider without pulling threads?

Can anyone give me a good reason why I can't break it down with an impact wrench while it is on the sled?

What are the reinstallation torque specs for the primary if I have to remove it?

Thanks

Due to crankshaft protection acts, I would not risk trying to break the clutch down on the sled. The secret to getting the spider and the jam nut off is massive amounts of heat. The loctite that they use at the factory is very strong and heat is your best freind in removal.

Use liberal amounts of red loctite when reinstalling. The service manual will call for green, but you need the spider and jam nut to stay put to prevent premature spider failure and red is the way to go.

Ok, heat the jam nut or the shaft? I can't ever remember if metal expands or contracts when it gets hot. I know i'm just trying to melt the loctite but I'm sure heating the right part to loosen things up would help also.

Alright perfect. So does anyone happen to know the torque specs for putting the spider and jam nut back on the clutch, and the clutch back on the crank? I tried looking it up in my handy dandy operators manual, but it's just that, an operators manual, not an owners manual. Everytime that I try and look something up it says "take sled to your authorized arctic cat dealer". Wahoo.

Ok heat the nut use an impact and will come off. You will need a holding tool and the spider wrench to get the spider off. The torque specs are 250 on the spider and 85 on the nut.
