Break In - Stumble/Hesitation

Wondering if anyone else has noticed this or is it just me? I'm on my first tank of 91 Octane but still has the dealer oil in the tank. Roughly 20 miles/2.5hrs on the machine at this point. I'm noticing a stumble/stutter when I'm rolling say 10-15 miles/hr and I peg the throttle to the boards. There's a slight hesitation for a split second, then it ripps away. With the digital RMP's it's difficult to determine exact RPM's. I'll have to run again and pay closer attention and repost. This has been sparadic, so I can't pinpoint this happening every time out. I asked the dealer if there was a re-flash yet and they said nothing yet. He did say they had a 600 Rush last year with similar symptoms and it went away after a few rides. Maybe this is part of the break in with all the extra oil or not enough time to burn in the chip. Otherwise I'm very happy with my sled. This sled has tons of torque compared to my 08 700 RMK. BTW - Ethenol Resistor is not installed.

Polaris VES Gold Plus, as suggested by the dealer

Actually, the owner's manual (page 56) is very clear about using blue oil (semi-synthetic) for the first tank of fuel, not VES Gold Plus. That's what I did with my Pro RMK Assault. Also, I had to drain out the VES Gold Plus from the oil bottle that my dealer filled and added the blue oil to break in. No issues so far.

I have a dragon and if the pipe is not hot it does have a stumble. if you start it up and go w/o letting it warm up or you stop on the trail and the pipe cools off there it will stumble could be that

it is most likely from the break in period and the extra oil. I wouldn't worry about running the blue oil for the first tank of oil. If polaris was real concerned about it they would ship the sleds with that oil in the bottle and not the VES gold.

took mine out for the first time yesterday and it dose the same thing... dealer told me it was normal for break in.. im ganna give it a few more rides and see if it stops

Happy to report I had the Pro out last weekend and I did not have this happen at all. The sled now has 50 miles logged and counting. Can't wait to go out west in 30 days. Hope to have all the bugs worked out before the first trip to the back country.

It happened to me today.
5+ hours on the ecu/engine,
was running with 91 octane,
Engine coolant was at 51 celcius,
oil is from polaris...

I was in a field and i was trying to to some wheelie.
I put it WOT, and the engine wanted to die for 1-2 second

:(

storm...next time you ride..install 1/2 a can of this in it when you fill up( in the fuel tank)...i think you have something in your fuel...use this stuff..it works.....dont substitute anything else...this stuff works...

i may need to reread the manual but did they recommend that the oil in the tank be the blue oil? i know that they wanted you to put the blue oil in the gas for the premix but i didn't think they said that the oil injection should be blue as well. not questioning you but i might need to reread the manual.

The clear (light amber actually) oil in the tank IS blue oil without the colorant; comes that way from the factory. This has been confirmed from my dealer, and Carl's. No need to drain.

Have FUN!

Try taking out your throttle safety switch and cleaning it. It will come from the factory with a real sticky lithium grease. This was the problem I found with mine.

I think you've nailed it! Certainly would explain what I was experiencing!

Thanks!

Sea Foam also contains 10-20% IPA (Isopropyl or rubbing alcohol) and is the LAST thing you want to add to your tank IF you're using oxygenated fuel. Worked great in the day but not needed for today's gas. Here's a product that's basically the same without the IPA: http://www.marvelmysteryoil.com/
Or just mix some Naphtha (mineral spirits) in your tank - it's not rocket science like they'd like for you to believe (and yeah, my background is chemistry and solvents).

Oh, that's good to know. I should have confirmed with my dealer before I drained at the first place. :ohwell:
