Thanks Mark, haven't seen my letter yet. Better late than never, ha ha.

Just recieved mine yesterday. The third page had all the sled info and warranty info in it. It was dated Dec 9th. Had my update done in October...they are right on it you know...

The 2 guys they have sending out update kits stopped so they could get caught up on the warranty letters :face-icon-small-dis

Glad my dealer just told me to run it, don't bother pre-mixing with oil......WTF? So now we are supposed to use the Polaris Gold Plus, not just the Gold? So is the break in oil supposed to be the Polaris Blue?

As I've learned, the break in oil they recommend is the blue. My serv man. didn't tell me this either. And I bought a case of poo ves in nov. and it wasn't the "plus", just ves gold. I wasn't given a choice, just assumed it was the latest. Anyone KNOW the diffence of what the Plus is? I heard it burns cleaner for ex. valves, but I haven't had any trouble with valves running the old gold stuff, since 04.

Thanks 800poodragon. I haven't gotten this letter yet either. Likely none of the dealer have but it seems you will see it first here at SnoWest.

Polaris Blue for break-in and Polaris gold plus, or a quality synthetic or just a quality oil for running as long as it meet the requirements of Polaris if you want warranty. Rarely will it be oil breakdown or failure that take a motor out and their are more opinons than their are oil companys on what oil is best or worst once you start that ball rolling.

My dealer told me to just run it as well, no premixing and run the gold I had in the tank. I went ahead and sucked all the gold oil out of my oil tank and filled it with the blue for the first couple of tanks. Never did premix any. Than I sucked the blue out and refilled with the gold. I will run the rest of the blue in my 4 wheeler. When I went into the dealership and asked for the gold plus all they had was gold. And had just recieved a shipment of it in a week or so earlier. This was in the middle of October. I showed him the discount coupon I had from Polaris for the gold plus. He said at that time they were not even able to get the gold plus yet from Polaris. He figured it was Polarises way of getting the dealers to buy a bunch more of oil after they had just stocked up for the begining of the season. Getting the customers to come in and request it...I have about 3 gallons of the gold left. I will run it out before I get any more of the gold plus...

"do not modify the engine" {?:eek:} Hey that would have been useful advise about 10 years and $50,000 ago. Opps doomed now!:D

Semi synthetic in the first tank?

So we were supposed to use Polaris blue in the oil tank for the first tank of fuel? I am pretty sure mine had the gold in it. I wonder if the dealers knew this? I know they knew about the premix, but I wonder about the oil tank. I guess I can call. Top notch service from polaris getting the addendum to me 2 months after I had the update done:mad: There are probably a lot of people who have already been riding for a few weeks. The longer I own my 10,000 dollar guinea pig the more I grow to despise it. Just heading out to my garage now to screw around with my clutch and hope it gets rpms when I ride it.

You two??? I am considering selling this guinea pig and jumping to a Doo..:eek:

Just finished talking to my Polaris dealer and he hasn"t even heard about running the Gold Plus. Funny, he asked if Polaris was going to give me my money back because I just bought a case of Ves Gold two months ago when the update was done. I havent got any letter and neither has he and he's the sled dealer.

I wouldn't get to uptight about the oil thing. It isn't likly to ruen you engine. If the rings don't seat have the deal put in a new set of rings and clean up the cylinders and you should be good. Done this before when polais recommended using systhitic oil to break in a motor in the past. never did get the rings to seat. Had the dealer redo it and away we went.

Every new sled that comes off the assembly line should be filled with the Blue oil, not the Gold like they do now. And it should pretty much be common knowledge now that you use it to break in your new sled or new engine or updated overhaul.

X2 - The last time I ran Polaris oil in my sled is when the original tank of oil was low from when the sled was new. I do not plan on starting back up either. I am sure any certified 2-stroke snowmobile oil will work just fine. My thought is make a decision and stick with that oil.

I received this letter in the first week of October when I still at the time owned a '08 D8. I was not due to pickup my '09 D8, with 2010 update, that I bought in May until the middle of October. I posted that I had received this letter then. Guys were questioning the amount of oil recommended for the tank premix as excessive.:confused: Why the delay in people receiving this letter? I also received a letter after the update was done on my new '09 D8. Did anybody get that one? Interesting how and when Polaris sends customers info?:confused::beer;:beer;
