Brakes Overheating

Does anyone else have trouble with the brakes overheating and locking up or not working?? The last two times I have been out when I got in the deep stuff my breaks have gotten extremely hot and either locked up and couldn't move or I lost the breaks all together.
My friend with a 08 stock Nytro has also had the same problem. Is there any fix to the problem? What is the problem??

Thanks
Mike

hey check out the second page of the belt issue thread. a guy there said if you have water in your brake fluid it will boil and apply pressure to the pads. that might be it?

Firtst take the lid off of the master cylinder, then take off the caliper and try to pry the pads apart. They should spread easily and you should be able to see fluid pushing up into the master cylinder. If not you have a blocked return hole in the master cylinder, check to make sure the brake lever is fully returing to the off position. Fluid must be able to flow freely back into the master cylinder resevore or the brake will be applied more and more as it heats up.

I had an issue years ago when in the deep snow, i had ice forming in the rubber shield that covers the master cylinder actuator just behind the lever. It would actually freeze the brake on. I was eating brakes like crazy and i think i almost burned my sled to the ground. I started keeping my sled in a enclosed and the issue went away. I couldn't figure it out for a while, kind of frustrating. Just an idea

i had trouble on my apex with a low windshield. snow would build up behind the brake lever where it rests against the master cylinder and keep packing in every time you squeezed the lever. i removed the lever and ground the flat part into a V so it broke up the snow. until it gets bad enough it just over heats the brakes.

Hmmm this maybe my problem, when I went to bleed the breaks the the fluid was boiling and came screaming out.
