brake keeps locking up???

O7 rev 800r.
Last season i noticed that my brake was clamping down and not releasing. So i cracked the caliper open and bled a little fluid out. It got way hot durind this. But it seamed to work fine the rest of the season.
Both rides this year its done the same. locked down... I bled the entire system and it once again did the same.
Any sugestions? Thanks

brake sticking

thanks for the advice. the brake lever seam to get pumped up and wont release, it becomes even hard to pump. i was thinking it was something to do up in the hand control end...

Have you flushed all the old fluid out of the system? Often times this type of thing will happen with old fluid as it gets water in it and the water boils off and expands in the system, the hotter it gets the more break pressure you get and then more heat ... you get the idea.

I've seen this on a couple sleds. I would flush the system of all the old fluid and replace it with fresh fluid then go from there.

Ya i did flush it, I thought pretty good, but fluid is cheap. I'll give it a nother go... I used a hand vacume pump, and pulled it throught he fitting on the calliper. I bet I put 5-6 full resivours through it.

You'll need to disasemble the caliper and inspect the O ring. Odds are its damaged or there is debris in it. Basically on any disc brake system, the squared O ring is the only return part in the system. If anything is in the way or floating in the slave part it will bind and stick. not allowing the o ring to relax and return to off position. Were talking about a very small amount of movement here.

I had the exact same thing happen to me last year..The brake lever froze and the brake was dragging and got hot..It kept hanging up all year..I took the caliper off and cleaned it..sanded the rotor and works fine now...go figure.
