Well after riding several buddies sleds, I have finally picked up my first Arctic Cat. It's an 07 M8 162 with 100 miles. It's 100% stock. Still have my 01 RMK 800.
Just wondering what is on the list of "need to do" vs. "want to do".
I know there is the obvious things such as snow eliminators, two wheel kit and such, but was wondering what you guys recommend.

Thanks in advance. SNODAWG

Change the diamond drive fluid before anything, and make sure you change it regularly. Every 2-3 hundred miles wouldn't hurt.

Snow eliminators, SLP pipe, and clutching

I didn't get any books with this thing. What do you use for fluid in the D-Drive and how much?

Make sure you cover everything you can under the hood with heat tape so you don't melt it, your power valve cables, your oil bottle, your hood clips. Check where your coolant hose goes under the engine on the right hand side on the bottom, it will wear a hole in the hose.

check with cat for some updates under the hood to protect from heat issues..they made a plate for 08 that protects injecr rail wires that will fit 07 and they made deep powder heat kit...(thermo loom )for power cables etc...thats your main concern with 07/

venting and heat protection, a must if your gonna ride the deep. u2celk, didn't know anyone else was "modding" this hose:)

Get that thing clutched properly, and put some vents on it, snow eliminators and you should be ready to go. A little heat tape here and there never hurt, but I didnt have any issues with that until I put my slp pipe on.

Powerclaw track, Boss seat, clutch side venting, and all Arctic cat updates. Check with your dealer on the updates as there are a few.

Thanks everyone for the input. Lots of help!!!

Took it out for a break-in ride today. Couldn't let her shine much today though....raining on what little bit of cascade concrete that we have (aka snow).

It seemed like I could smell the belt at times when going slow. Are there any known belt issues? I need to get a new one anyway and use the old one for a spare.

I've heard rumors of good and bad regarding the reflash of the ECU. I plan on putting a can on in the future but not right away ($$$). Any comments?

My 07 was reflashed! It has a sticker on the ECU with a date of when it was done!

The 07 reflash added fuel in the mid range to cool it down a bit. If you're going to put a pipe on it I wouldn't do it, it seems like the extra fuel caused the bogging everyone complains about. I ended up having to pull fuel out of the mid range with a Boondocker box to clean the bog up, I didn't have the bog when I went back to the stock pipe w/o the BD box. The update will drop the under hood temps though. I'd put vents on it and call it good.

Need: Snow Eliminators, venting, shift assist or torsional conversion kit, new rollers, handlebar riser, Arctic cat knee (console) pads
Want: SLP pipe, Powerclaw, 2 Wheel Kit, Better Seat, new skis, Tunnel update, intake, and a bunch more!

hmmm..im a little lean around power valve opening...i do have the reflash in my tool box..i just thought it was for the crossfire...can i reflash with my pl box on and the chip in place of the servo motor as i have stms..??...i should be able to eh...??

There were two updates for that sled, one was the full reflash and one was a plug thingy that you put on. I wouldn't mess with it if you have a fuel controller, I'd just adjust for any issues you have. It seems like I remember the plug in thing having something to do with reverse but I'm not positive. It's been a few years since I had to mess with it. I think if your happy with the way it runs I'd leave it alone. If it were bone stock and you planned to keep it that way then I'd do the reflash.
