Boosted Sleds wth Factory ECU boost controli

Neil,

I appreciate your insight. I agree with you about the duty cycle of a mountain snowmobile. For the reasons you have stated (guy taking off 3 days to ride/midwestern guys taking a week off to come out west, etc) are precisely why we have taken this on.

Also, I agree there is a lot to be said for adjustability, but we think there is a huge # of people out there that would run boost if it were "kick the tires and light the fires easy" as evidenced by Cats 100% sell out of their 1100T for 2012.

I was going to mention that I can't wait to see how consistent the Mountain versions of the 1100's run. It will be interesting. For the most part, 4 strokes are pretty forgiving, and will warn you over and over before they have a major failure. We ran ours lean for over 2 years before we came up with a fix.

could be a winner

I think what you are trying to do is fantastic. Being able to modify the stock ECU to hold all of the parameters you require to run boost would be great. That way you get to keep the functions of the stock ECU such as checking coolant temp, checking relay functionality and coil function all with a few pushes of a button. I would say however that your challenge, especially on the Yammis, will be to integrate your functions without affecting any stock electrical systems. The yammis have multiple systems that overlap and read off one another and may make your job very hard but not impossible if you fully understand the electrical map of the sled. Make this system a closed loop and you will have a winner. I certainly understand people wanting adjustability to adapt to current conditions. Like you said though, just start and ride has a lot of mass appeal. Making the system closed looped will offer instant, by the second, fuel adjustment based off A/R readings and rpms etc so you can "start and ride" without any user input.

This off season will be very interesting to see what all the manufacturers will come out with for turbo applications.

I would be interested. I run a shimmed 10 psi MPI apex set up and the GEMS actually works decent for me, no hiccups. According to my AF gauge though I am rich everywhere and there is a nastly lean spot at about about 92mph so I either go above it or stay below it and never hold it there. I am one that is done with modding and if you could get the sled to manage the boost better get my MPG up (this is a trail sled in midwest) and play with the timing to optimize the engine I would be game. Trouble is the system as to have self adjustment built in and I have never had luck with a mail order 'tune' on a car. It would be great if you can get it on the dyno tune it and have it 100% and then with enough adjustibility to accomodate elevation, temp changes, etc.

Good luck I will be watching for new posts on this.

Stock ecu

This is what I am looking for. I would be interested in this setup for my impulse Nytro and would like to see it with full adjustable up and down on the boost levels.

Thanks Jamie.

Jim,
Mine might like to lose the fuel controller and it's sure close to you for a little revision. I really would like to see what you came up with. It's going to Skinz for a little massage on the front end soon. Amos said said to say hello.
