Boosted 4 stroke maintenence?

So I REALLY am getting closer to pulling the trigger on a boosted 4 stroke, but have a couple more questions about maintenence.

What is really needed to properly maintain one of these beasts? As stated in another thread I will buying a used one, what is considered high mileage? When do you have to do a rebuild or at least tear down the engine to have a look. And when you do tear the engine is it worth updating the rods and pistons with higher performance parts? How much money is a guy looking at to do this? I would learn to do all maintence by myself. I am assuming the turbo system itself is fairly low maintenence?

Regular oil changes once a season? Every 1,2, or 3000 miles? Drivetrain maintence? How often do they fail? Clutches? Same question.

I have searched on here and haven't really found alot, does this mean most of this is not an issue?

I just want to know what I am getting myself into if I decide to get into a 4ST.

I would be running any system I got at 17#. Thanks for any and all info you guys can give me.

Just do it. Ask canucklehead whole weekends of riding and burning every gallon we can carry and no black hands!!! Just make sure before you pull the trigger consult me :face-icon-small-win

4ST

There pretty good for maintenance, no more maintenance than a 2 smoker at the end of the day. However some things to consider are if your motor does break it will be costly. You will also be riding heavier sled over the 2 stroke.

I change the oil every 5-600 miles and it comes out pretty good looking!
Clutches I found require no more maintenance than my 2 stroke sled. If anything I've saved money on the 4 stroke.
Yamaha has a poor front end so be prepaired to spend money there keeping all the bushings tight.
My recommendation is buy a clean used sled already pimped out ready to ride! Some sweet deals out there!! After that turn to 17#'s and enjoy. Remember @ 17 you will perhaps want to run av gas!
