BOOST-IT Apex kit

Have you tried it on any impulse Apex sleds? What is the price of the upgrade?
It has not yet been tried on a Impulse Apex. I have had alot of interest though. I am confident it will work on any boosted sled from what I have seen. Do to the fact that it only fuels on boost, and you decide when it starts and how much fuel it gets, it really comes down to tuning the controller. I know it worked great on my Apex, and the S/C Apex that we did.

Yea let me know, I'm curious. Mine runs great as it is, just a small stumble off idle as it gets warm through the day.

So whats involved in tuning the controller?

just 2 knobs ,one controlles when the 2nd set of injector start to fuel say at 3-4lbs boost .you want extra fuel thats when it will start ,just turn knob up or down to change when it starts to fuel.other knob controlles how much total extra fuel added just take a rip up the hill check a/f gauge ,if lean just turn the knob up a bit take another rip in a few minutes you got it.if rich just turn down a bit very easy anybody can do it,no more of this:frusty:just this:face-icon-small-hap:beer;

Can you pm me a price on this I have a 2007 yamaha apex with boondocker kit and also have a friend with a custom build kit it is a lot like impulse will it work on both thanks

I got out this weekend with Boost It on my Apex, I couldn't get over, how easy it was to tune. It was so simple to fine tune with the A/F datalogging. It literally took me about 5 minutes of tweaking at race hill and I had the sled working awesome. The settings NM put in were pretty close, I didnt have to change the threshhold at all. To fine tune the fuel, you can flip through the map 250 rpm increments at a time, you can view the A/F and increase or decrease the fuel right on the same screen. After I had it tuned the first day, I never touched it a gain for the rest of the weekend. I was impressed how much cleaner I could dial in the midrange, the sled cruises so much better on the trail than it did running the PL or RB3. The power is definatley alot more linear too. I cant wait to get out for another rip on it next weekend. Thx Neil and TJ.

Looks like nice craftsmanship but $1700 is a bit rich for me. Must use gold circuits.
If I were fabricating a kit from scratch and didn't already spend 6k on a kit I would definitely consider this box for my fueling however.

$1500 for mpi's Standalone kit, $1500 for impulse's standalone kit, and $3000 for a motec setup. $1700 isn't bad, and the fact that NM spent a lot of time testing his kit so his customers wouldn't have to makes the $1700 a sound investment in my eyes. Just my opinion of course. It cost money to make these high hp sleds run. It's just the way it is.

I don't think some people really understand what this kit is.
It is a true extra injector kit, and is really a standalone in the fact that the stock electronics have no idea it is even on the sled.
The other cool thing is that it will work on any 2-3-4 cylinder sled and does not need a laptop to tune it.
I have seen guys on the hill with laptops, and it looks like no fun. If this system needs a tweak here or there, it is only a few seconds.
It is also nice to leave the stock injectors and stock fuel mapping in place for starting, fuel economy, and low speed cruising...I am thinking the factory invested some time and money in that program.
I priced the same parts from MCX and they were almost a 1000.00 more and still needed a laptop to tune. I'm not really sure why someone would want to be punching keys on a laptop when they could be riding!

Quite honestly, if i had to rely on a piggy back controller like BD or Dobeck, I probably would have sold my turbo sleds.

i just got the install on my impulse apex and 14lbs pulls like 18lbs of boost its crazy! i had 90 mph track speed, never had this sled running so good. thats all i could run and stay off the rev limiter throwing more weight in it when i get home. 5 mins and its prefectly tuned and logs the o2 readings in 250 rpm steps very simple and straight forward i know the rest of my sleds are getting this controller good work Neil.

Do you have the standard impulse apex kit? Still enough room for the hood where the new injector rail goes? Quite a difference from the pro logic box? Ive considered it mine runs good, only thing is loads up a little on the first climb after 10 miles of slow trail riding. Any changes in fuel economy?

Got any pics of install?

Thanks Marcus!
I knew this would be a good set up for you. If you think it was a huge improvement on your Apex, then you won't believe what it will do for your Nytro's.
Here are some pics of another one we did yesterday.

the fuel injector bosses will fit any intercooler on the market. its a impulse race kit with a different intercooler. i think the dobeck, rb3, bd, and powercomander are junk after running this setup. i know motec, bigstuff, and impulse full conversion systems are more money don't run any better i could see where the bigstuff would be key in drag racing but thats not what the mountain riders like me need i hate hauling my laptop on the mountain to make changes. i'm even thinking of doing a turbo on an R1 and using this controller. i will get some video on youtube this week.
