Boost Gauge

The best place is to tap into the intake plenum if you have the skills to do so this is the best place.

what if you are installing a mechanical gauge, what line is the best to splice into? I have heard conflicting reports, some say the line coming off the intercooler and some say the BOV line up by the manifold going to the fuel regulator. Anyone know for sure which is better? Or if there is a better place than the two mentioned?

It is not advicable to tap into the FPR/BRV line. The reason for this being that if this line would devolop a leak whether it be at the splice or from the line being ripped off by a tree branch or rubbing through/etc. This would create a very dangerous lean condition as the FPR needs to see boost pressure. One place you could tap into easily would be to add a port to the intercooler. You can easily remove the intercooler to drill and tap it. You may want to pressurize the intercooler why drilling and tapping as well to push the chips out to keep them out of the intercooler. Also like said above you can drill and tap the plenum as well. But it is alot more work to take off. The thing about boost is that you will see a slight difference in the positions but in the end it is really just a reference for day to day. So you can see if your boost is down from one day to the next you know something may have changed.

WHat works very easy and I have been running it for over 2 seasons is to tap into the fitting ( MAde a T) and into the manifold that is on the left side where the EVO BRV fitting ties into.
This reads off vacume but also triggers boost.
I use the dual gauge from summit racing.. works clean and hook up is a snap.

Also here is a good article on how to read what your gauge is telling you besides just boost- as to why a dual purpose in this situation is priceless!:present:
