Boondockers turbo on pro?

My bone stock Pro was hitting the Det Sensor at cold temps -28 C and low elevation 1500 ft. Rode it 2 days later at 3300 ft and -6 C and never had any Det lights come on, same fuel in tank. I believe these sleds has a very sensitive sensor if it is going off in a stock sled.

i was supose to have egt instaled on my sled when i got it. but i sent my brother to pick it up andwhen it got hear no egt so yes i think that would help. sending back i think i will try a afr instead. i dont think it is a detnition we are dealing with ethier i think live4turbo got it right on the head.over sinsitive senser. no problems with the spark plugs comming loose.

my 2c for the day

just ride the sleds get more miles and play with the numbers. I suggest the adjustable actuator it helps

turbo

Any one been riding with the new pro and boondocker turbo. Just about done installing one for a guy. The kit goes all together really easy!!!!!!!!! Hope it works as good as our last year dragons with boondocker turbos!!

I think most of the problem is Polaris and the new motor and strict det sensitivity.

most of the problem is people using crap for fuel, Turbo=good race gas period, not a mix, not a blend . We have always run 100% c12 or C16 in turbo stuff, never any issues at all. IMHO Just get 5 gal of 100% VP C16 and at 8-9 psi if the light goes on something else is triggering it cause it sure is not detonating. Ive run 30 psi + on C16 with zero issues on other stuff.

Not bashing just my opinion based on 25 years of owning a race engine shop. seen it so many times, 50,000.00 motor "how much pump gas can I run in it???" arghhhhhhhh :rant::rant::rant: :face-icon-small-coo

So I'm pretty new to the turbo world only 3 years running and working on everything from snow to dirt but i have always ran 100% av gas on everything i have and not had any problems until just now on the new pro so yes i think it is over sensitive ecu and debt sensor there is no reason to get on here a talk s!!t about people trying to help eachother out maybe you should stay off here if you cant say anything nice

for 27 posts you have a very strong opinion.. There is no reason to argue, so what you are in fact saying is that you would rather have a less sensitive det sensor so you would really not know if you were in fact on the threshold of engine knock? Because unless you are running the engine on a dyno under very controled conditions and set pressures, load and tempature you can't tell until its to late and you start melting stuff.
I would much rather start with 100% C16 and then back off my octane requirements till the sensor showed det, then bump octane a bit. Take for example a typical pull up a hill you start at 125 deg engine temp, with the motor on the edge of detonation, well 4 seconds into the run your at 148 deg and she starts to knock...not good in a 2 stroke engine with non rotating rings you can burn the temper out of a top ring in the blink of a eye..now even tho it still runs OK you have 20% leakage in that cylinder, whoops not good down on hp time for a rering.
My point is that I can't understand why people like/want to run a engine so close to the edge of meltdown?? Just run good fuel and there is no problem. Like to old saying goes "speed costs money, how fast do you want to go?"
OR if you must run av gas back off boost by 1 pound,or take 2-3 degrees out of the timeing curve. Av gas is a good fuel but 100ll is in no way shape or form true race gas, if you can find 115/140 av gas (dyed purple) thats as close to true race fuel as you can get. Would I run 100%ll in a 12-1 motor? yup totally safe, in a 15-1 mod production engine? not a chance.

Just to let you know i have an 09 d800 with BD turbo and am running 11.5-12# of boost av gas is true 105 octane snoco 110 is 106 or less as for the 27 posts new screen name sorry to come off wrong i don't wont any enemiesy. i shouldn't have commented towards.

PS EGT help with tuning

First let me say Im a old die hard polaris fan. Second let me say right now I am on a 09 M8 with an upgraded BD kit. I love my M8. Yesterday I had the oppurtunity to try a Pro. Wow Polaris got it right again. However we have ridden with a few Polaris turbo guys and none of these people are happy with their turbo sleds. No pros but lots of D8s. In fact we havnt talked to anyone that is happy. I am not saying they are not out there. I read of happy owners from time to time here.
On the AC forum ther are lots of problems too.
SO after riding the Pro I need one bad. BUT it really didnt run like I have come accustomed too with the M8. The BD kits are fresh out of production and people are gonna get them right Im sure. But except for a couple of people here no one seems happy. I want to have another pull and go sled like my M8. How long before the Pro runs right seems to be the question.
If ya have one your happy with please post it here. If not please4 post it here. Snow check time is around the corner and I for one will be a little skeptical of dumping another 20 grand in a sled that might run right.

sled

I have a 2010 dragon 800 with boondocker turbo. Put a boondocker turbo on my pro, took it out today and dialed it in man it is awesome!!!!!!!!

Rode the turbo pro and it is flat out awesome. Got to change a few numbers and it will be golden. wife roasted a rock so the fun was over for the day. Hands down the funnest sled I ever rode.

Is there any new news on the DET problem?
For all of you guys that have the BD kit, how are they now?

What have you done to fix the det.?
Is there still issues with the low end bog?
Thanks dc

Installed bd turbo last week

I had my bd turbo installed last week and put 150 miles on it so far and it flat out rips.
I have the 4lb actuator.
Have not seen det light.
Ran 2 gallons 115 per tank.
Ran 2 tanks at 4.x pounds of boost.
Third tank turned it up to 8lbs and did some big pulls.
Runs awesome.
No det. no lag!

Just spent two days on the snow. All new numbers and secondary clutch. Absolutely rips!!! No DET and not bog. Cant be happier:)

rode with heston off and on today as he had a group larger than my likings. but his BD turbo'd pro is definitely RIPPING! it was impressive, didnt get a chance it side by side w/ mine but we're heading back out monday so i will report back... i do have to say that after seeing it today it makes me want one pretty bad

numbers

I am running
Psi low 0-4.6 lbs boost
50 50 38
Psi high 4.6-8
50 52 53
Recomended by boondockers

22-24 plug gap irridium

Afr 12-13

Turbonium What elevation are you riding at?

From what I understand the 4# actuator is for guys below 7000 feet. True??

So was this the det problem?

I just ordered the BD kit and looking forward to installing it and riding with boost again.

Is there any funny things to worry about in the installation?
thanks
dc
