Boondockers Nytro Kit!!

Boondockers has had a Nytro since spring as well. It shows that those who can do that definitely have the upper hand in development.

Then what took them so long, and why wouldnt they send the kit with all the needed parts if it took so long, not like they didnt havetime. :o

Summitking, I got so involved working, I quit taking pictures. I need to take one now that its together. Looks pretty darn good I must say.
I did ride Pauls Nytro up at Tower, along with Dustins. They both ran great. It just didn't tickle my fancy...

Hyflyr, I don't know. I am with you on that.....? The only thing I can think of is they build them for all sleds, not just Yamaha's..?

Gaz, as you know, yep she's up and running. My wide band took a crap, so I am going out tomorrow with out one, and running pig rich. I hope all goes well...

JSCC, that is the beauty of the 4 stroke, you can tune it without a wideband, they are very finicky anyway. Go pig rich and lean it down until it pull clean. If you are lean it will pop, just be careful not to go too lean!

Thats a sweet look'n kit! I like the idea of the turbo being held up with a support bracket.........( should take some load off that neat lookn' slip joint header)
Like someone said earlier, I hope there future kits will have a good instruction manual and will include all the little things.......cause this is what slows an install down the most, running around town looking for little odds and sodds........Time is money! I know of at least one installer that wouldn't touch this kit unless they get it "ALL" together! I'm sure it right around the corner......cause once they do, it looks like they'll have on hell of a quick spool'n high hp nytro kit.

Couldnt have said it better. Like with anything, the little things make or brake the job, or kit in this case.

Well, we had it out for its maiden voyage..........
First, it ran fantastic at home, elevation 4300'.
At 7500', it would not run. Anything under half throttle, and it wanted to die, and not start. Three hours later, finally got it figured out. The baseline settings they gave me, did not work for this sled, at all. The bottom end was REALLY lean, and then to mask it, the accelerater circuit hit with alot of fuel. Dropped the fuel pressure back down to 35lbs, and started playing with the settings on a nice flat spot. It didnt help not having a wideband, but at this point I just needed to get it to run.
Well we got it running decent, and I was spent. No more wrenching!
We just rode.
As for performance. I need to spend some time getting it dialed in to my specs, but it ran good.
The power on this kit comes on with such a suttle boost, you hardly know you have it until you realise how fast your moving, or how high you went. This machine is completely stock minus the new turbo.
There is not enough lag to notice. And I dont mean front mount Apex no lag, as I had mine there. The power comes on so linear, you cannot tell there is a turbo on the machine.
Once this gets setup right, its going to be an incredible all around machine. With the stock track, it is not going to be the high marker, but we wanted a great all around sled. I think this is it.

On a different not, does anyone run the turbosmart boost tee? This sled spikes over seven pounds higher than max boost! Flat rediculous! I am going to take the controller off my Apex and see if it can control that any better....?

All in all its a great kit. It still needs some loose ends tied up, but I think they will get them done. Unless you know its there, you would not know it is turboed, as this is quite the sleeper setup. The tank is the only visible sign there is anything different about the sled. Even the sound makes us just sound like its got a pipe. I like that.

Sounds like you had a little work today figuring everything out. Glad you made it back safely. BTW...how do you like the new track on the Apex?

~Gaz

The track is not as good in conditions like today. Lots of light snow. Plus its just a fifteen wide. But its much better for everything else. Sidehilling, boondocking, racing, hardpack, semi hardpack.....I think I will keep it.

By the way, the snow is deeeeeeeeep! Get that thing running would ya?

I'll let you know what they say tomorrow. Hopefully they have it done early this week and I'll have it ready to go by the weekend.

Thats the best thing about the mcx kits. You just RIDE! no fugging with fuel settings...ever! I know, I know, but its a rear mount, and I hate lag right!??
From a stand still there is still a touch of lag,(and I mean a touch, like about as much as a front mount apex kit) but when your rolling (even very slow) Its instant spool and go! And FUG do I mean GO!

Keep us posted on the fuel settings thing. I'm guessing that once you get it dialled, there won't be much messing around with it at all.:beer;

What Ken said. The only thing I messed with was my clutching. I do have a wideband, but it's still in the box. These things should all have fuel controllers that are pre-mapped. Once they have it on the dyno they can set the fuel map, add a map sensor and done. At the price these kits are they should all be complete.

I hear ya. Does MCX have different maps for those who wish to run stock compression?

Zeb, thanks. Just a little more tuning, and I think she is going to be fun.

Hey guys just drove back from Idaho falls and had boondocker install my turbo .. you will not have your stock fuel pump a new one comes with it I think it is a very clean set up it takes an artic cat gas cap...yes but it is nice to be able to look inside your fuel tank seeing the gas gauge dont work ant more. I dont know how well it will run yet seeing that thier controll box is ( to me) very complicated to work AND i WILL HAVE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT SETTINGS THE FUEL SHOULD BE AT. If anyone is running around 3 thru 6.0000 feet let me know what is working for you. I also had them put the shock wave secondary kit and a new primary clutch kit on as well as an 0 2 censor. Let me know if you have any questions Have fun.

Well we had it out again yesterday, and at just 8 lbs she was running good.
Half way through the trip I heard it start missing, and my brother rode it over to me............
The turbo was shot.
We thought we had a oil pump failure, so we got it home last night and checked some things, then pulled it apart this morning. We used automotive leads to tie into the oil pump leads..........they are different from each other. We tested the pump to make sure it was moving oil with the leads reversed, and whala, it runs. While with them reversed it was pumping oil, it was not enough to keep it lubed.
Huge mistake on our part. We should have waited until we got the right leads from Boondockers!
Junior at BD is trying to find me some parts for replacement, and I want to give thanks to him for his efforts at getting this thing back on its feet.

Its not a good day when you see a Yammy being pulled out....:(

Really sorry to hear that Jed.

Got mine towed out yesterday too, broken chain.

Hope yopu get her back up and running quickly!

There are great conditions in the mountains right now!!

If we are all paying for the "R&D" and that is why these kits cost so much why are so many of you continuing to buy these kits and do the "R&D"??? Any kit you buy from a reputable company should come with directions and ALL of the parts to install. It should also come with a fuel controller that is set up with a very close base line!!! These two things are not hard to do if you have your kit figured out!!!

It kills me to keep hearing all of the complaining and then see people still going out and buying these incomplete kits...........you can praise them all you want for trying to help you out after the fact....but fact is the kit should have shipped like you said with all of the parts!!!

Looks to me that this kit is not ready for the general consumer.

I have no problem waiting for a kit. If the kit builder is not ready 100% then I will wait until he is ready so it is not an ordeal!!

My kit from Dave at powderlites for my Apex ran hard right out of the box. Not any issues! No missing parts!!! Fuel controller hardly had to be even looked at!!

All kits have issues to address but if your missing parts and you have to set the base line on your fuel controller and they can't help you with that I would look at a different kit!!

I surely cant disagree with you.

I just can't believe that WE have to pay for the R&D on these stupid turbo kits. Glad I did not waist my $$ on one:D I want to ride not tinker and tune for ever....

I have almost 2 thousand miles on my BD Apex, with no issues. I tuned it when I first got it, and haven't touched it. I expect the same with this Nytro. I made an error, no matter how much I would like to blame it on someone else. If I was unsure of how to do the install, I should have paid BD to do it. I chose to do it, and I made a mistake.

If someone cannot jet and clutch there sled, they should not be riding a mod sled. IMO

I am glad I spent the money. As I know once I get this fix, it's going to be a kick *** sled!
