Boondocker pro rmk idle

Just wondering if anyone has seen this. My turbo kit was installed last week everything went great with the install and first ride boondockers numbers seem pretty close. Started the sled the next day ran great again outside temp was -14 C. Today it was colder at -25 and the sled is parked in a cold shop and I could not get it to idle, it needed a pinch of throttle to stay running. Seems like not enough fuel as when I restarted it I needed to hold the throttle to start. Once the engine temp got to 100 F it ran like a champ.

Same problem with mine. I am replacing the tps sensor, and see if that fixes it. Problem started first trip when sled was stock, so its not turbo related. Sensor got full of water, I dried it out but think the sensor is shot now. Haven't been able to get it to cold idle since.

Yeah it is strange. I have 600 stock miles on the sled and i have never seen this. Let me know how it goes when you change out your tps. Thanks

Will change it thursday and head for cooke city friday. Will report back to you on it.

The only thing I did to the electrical connections is put a little di electric grease in each one to keep the moisture out, maybe at -26 it doesn't like it to much.

tps

mine is doing the same thing it wouldnt idle which wouldnt hit higher than 7500 rpm once it dried out it idle better dealer was going to pu some kind of gel to keed water out

Talked with Jared Sessions today about the idle issue with a cold engine. He said that is normal, as the turbo isn't warm enough yet to keep the wheel spinning. He said you have to baby them until over 100 degrees.

I guess take it for what its worth, but with that said I am going to change my tps out and try to fix it.

I was just referring to a cold engine in the morning, not after it has been running. I have to baby mine(give it a little gas) on first start up in morning until it gets over 100 degrees then it idles fine the rest of the day.

Jared said polaris has the fuel set extra high while the sled is doing a cold idle to help people prevent cold seizing them.

Yes that is strange is it because it is not letting enough air through the wheel unless it is spinning at a Warner temperature. The other thing I noticed was allot of smoke until it warmed up. Normally cold starting at this temperature last year it would smoke some but not enough to send smoke signals.

I had the same problem on my 2011 pro and had the same worries on cold starts as you. I was also concerned with the same issues i.e. tps, water temperature, etc. I had purchased the sled used and it only had 900 miles on it but on closer inspection it had extraordinarily worn rings and reeds that we're moderately worn. I replaced both with no other changes and it starts and idles perfectly. I realize that the reeds wear rather quickly in this environment but I found it strange that the rings were so hammered after so few miles. They wore evenly from side to side and compression was similar from side to side but they were down by 15 lbs. per side on compression compared to replacements. I suspect previous excessive water temperature as a direct result of the less than adequate cooling system found on the Pros. It completely amazes me that we are in 2012 and, in order to save almost no weight, the manufacturer brings the Pro version out with less cooling, no front heat exchanger, than thr RMK. I added an additional 100 square inches of cooling under mine and it worked great.
