Boondocker intercooler completely blocked off inside?

Is this flame out problem something that happens on the rx1 and the vector?

Thanks

ya its just part of life with carb rx1's and vectors it only happens if you chop off really fast. u learn to avoid it pretty easily after a few miles.

hmmm

Well looks like from what i can tell as far as the original subject might as well leave that plate in there.

Still interested in the flame out. Wondering if anyone has a fix to make that better? Sounded like wilbilly had an idea or was asking for a way to make it better? Maybe it is best to start a new thread about it.

I run a synapse synchronic BOV and I have no flame out at all on my rx-1. They are a newer style bov and have very quick response. One good bov or 2 decent bov's will stop flame out.

BOV placement.

I have one pretty large BOV. If I have I will run a small turboxs one that I have on the other side of the ic if needed. From all the reading I have done. Sounds like the vectors don't have nearly the flameout issue that the rx1 had.

Sledfvr What is the placement of your BOV? Charge tube, before ic(charge tube side), or after ic(carb side).

Also from what i have seen alot of guys like to run the bov that it is slightly open or fluttering at idle. Seems as thought this would prove to be a very quickly responsive BOV.

Thanks all for sharing. I also agree that the EFI is great but Brings alot of complexity to the fueling.

I run 2 BOV one in the charge tube and one on the intercooler. No more flame out.

could u still flame out if you tried? got a buddy with a trx1 who took a tumble down the hill cause of a flame out, i know hes only runnin 1 BOV so switching to 2 might be a good idea. Does size of the BOV make a difference?

Yea, one in the charge tube and one on the ic. A 50mm works the best. Tial is a good one, but synapse seems to be a little better for me. My rx1 has no throttle chop and no flame out even if I try. The great thing about the synapse is that it does open instantly and my turbo xs seems to leak a little if I adjust it to open right away. I have one on the ic right before it goes to the carbs on my rear mount and it works great. I'm going to try the synapse in the charge tube before i/c on the boondocker sled.

Here is a pic of the carb end tank I am putting on my sled right now. Directly from the IC. I Hard to understand how airflow could be better if it had to change directions. To change directions it have to stop of slow down. That is why it is best to have the least amounts of bends in the charge tube. Or the largest radius bend that you can get.

You should have bellmouths on each carb, you will have issues getting it to run right without them. Airflow will be uneven and Jetting difficult to nail down, as well as power being down. Call Powderlites, Dave will explain the details to you as he has lots of experience with the vector engine!

Thanks

Thank you for the info. Will be sure to do. I have gotten a bit of info from dave at powderlites. I don't want to overstep my bounds with him though. Seems like the type of guy who will help anyone out, I just don't wanna abuse that.
