Boondocker EBC

Has anyone considered using the AEM Tru-Boost controller? Seems like it can be bought cheaper, has been proven, has a gauge built in, and has good reviews. It looks like it has a "push to pass" feature and it seems like the altitude compensation is a little silly, but you can program two "boost" levels in the tru-boost as well.

not bashing the Boondocker's setup, but from what most people are saying it seems like the AEM option might be more reliable, available, inexpensive, and useable?

The AEM sounds pretty sweet. If you watch the tech video, it is truely automatic based on PSI. Unfortunately its not water proof and others have stated it uses too much power for the M.

I know a few people on here have them on thier yammies.

Diann, thanks for the reply. I did talk with Jared and he confirmed what I thought. I will be calling in for my missing parts. No big deal.

I think I remember reading a post of Shain's (Twisted Turbos) that he tried running the AEM Tru-Boost and the sled did not have enough power to run it.

We are waiting for the buttons to get in, i have a bracket for you. I will contact you with shipping info. Thx D

Safety Bob,

Do you know if anyone in Canada has recieved there 2010 kits yet whether it be pump or race? Driving 14 hours to go on my second mountain trip of the year this saturday coming and still riding a stock 2010 m8. Ordered and paid in full for my pump gas kit with ebc back in September. Called around boondocker dealers throughout the area and nobody has recieved anything. Any news on when Boondocker Canada will be getting there kits to distribute to there dealers? So very sick of waiting as you can imagine. Any information would be great.

Thanks

the way the ebc was sold to me was that. you set what hp you want. 200 and the ebc will control the boost at different elevations to keep the horse power at 200 hp. the ebc would change boost as elevation changed?

Does anyone know what the correct number is for 8 lbs of boost?
boondocker set mine at 20.

thanks
tim

I think boondockers is on a fast track to ticking off alot of customers this year, myself included. My EBC showed up missing the button and the snopro bracket as well. I was told they would ship out the bracket right away, that was a week ago and still no bracket. It turns out that my EBC is defective, so they said they would overnight me a new one monday morning, but it seems that that didn't happen either. My sled is going on three weeks now that I can't use it because of this turbo kit . . . I wish I would have left it stock, at least I would be riding it. Forget trying to call them, they don't answer the phone and all the mailboxes are full.

Edit - They "forgot" to ship it monday, so they sent it out on tuesday . . Then UPS screwed the pooch and mis-routed it, so I might see it tomorrow:(

I've got mine:D but I ordered through Code Red and picked it up in the states last week. No way was I going to wait on shipping.

This whole thread is very telling. When i saw the BD post on the new 2010 PG M1000 kit i was shocked. I could not belive the things i saw. I posted my thoughts and i was taken to the wood shed.

I was called a Jerk , a Jackass , and everything else. The hose clamps on the charge tube caught my eye . I was shocked to see photos posted as a sales pitch. I thought the stickers had more R&D than the kit.

I wonder who runs this company ? They might want to find an MBA to explain things.

Glad I am not the only one....... Maybe I am not such an idiot after all?

I think the EBC is geared more for a race gas setup and that is where is would be of the most value. When I talked to BD this week, I was told that the sled will only go down to around 7lbs at the lowest setting as shipped. Assuming you run out of fuel at 9 on a PG kit, that is not much adjustment for the EBC to do. They are coming out with a lower spring pressure actuator that will go down to 4.5-5lbs, so maybe then it will make more sense.

Even though my own experiance with BD has been far from spotless, I still can't believe the number of other folks that are pissed off this year. I have had a LOT of PMs from people that are in the same boat. I really hope BD is able to restore consumer confidence and avoid any negative effects to thier business...

So for the people that have either put deposits on these kits or paid for them in full. Is boondockers offering full refunds??

SledderX, yes we have been shipping to canada, you will need to contact them, Nubulin and Tim it seems that there is still a lot of misunderstanding about how and what the ebc does, i am going to try to very clearly and in good detail get some serious tech info on the functions posted today, Thanks Diann.

safety bob

the ebc is what the ebc is. The only real issue is the ebc is not what alot of us where told it would be. I don't know if the salesperson didn't know what it was or if the ebc can't do what was originally supposed to do. Either way i will make it work. I am going to do some playing around this weekend and will call jared next week. I got a couple of things i want to try before calling, that way i am not wasting any ones time.

thanks

tim

Problem with setting ebc

In the installation instrctions it says to calibrate the ebc when you are done so i went through and tried to do what it said but it says i need the push button to turn some numbers down but they told me when i bought it that i didnt need the push button cuz it was only for the push to pass so the problem i am having is that i tund some numbers up that needed to go down well now i cant turn them down because i dont have the push button what do i do....

Take the yellow and black wire two prong plug in and put a jumper wire in there to run the number down. Once set you don't need to mess with it.

I PM'd you my # incase you need more help today.
