Bogey wheels on 2010 Dragon?

Are any of you guys running bogey wheels on your 09-10 dragons. I just picked up my '10 dragon this week and remember hearing about guys getting a few hundred miles on their hifaxes before they were shot. I am not wanting to be changing hifax every 300 miles, is their a kit that includes the bogey wheels of the rmk's?? For those of you who have run 09's last season, would you reccommend it? THanks!

I have about 2500 miles of not running wheels on two different d8's 163. The only time I needed the wheels was on glare ice. Then the hyfax would get alittle sticky cause the scratchers just don't put up enough chips. But you also start to heat up too in that senerio. You also need to run the scratchers down even when you may think it isn't necessary. Like a frozen groom trail, that may have 1" of new snow. Still need the scratchers down. Watching the temp guage is a good indication. Once it gets warmer than the norm running temp (125 on mine) you need to put them down. On my 07 155 I removed all the wheels and didn't run the scratchers like I just described, and did burn up two sets in about 500 miles each. If you often unload and need to ride a ways up a plowed icy road to get to a trail head, then I'ld prob buy the wheels.

bogey man

I had the full set on my 155" dragon and after 2,500 the hifax was still over 50%. I am converting it to 163" so I have to buy new hifax but the old ones would still work. I do believe that I will be reinstalling all of the bogey wheels. I like to go fast on trails and I think bogey wheels make that possible.

:beer;;)

I bought a set from Polaris for $100.00 and they bolted right in and have had very little hi-fax wear. I still drop my scratcher to keep the engine cool when running hard pack.

Good luck,

I did 92 miles and had to put new hyfax on already. So when I bought the replacements, I just threw in the bogey wheel kit for $99.99 and it was an easy install. Now if we could get some new snow so I can see how it goes and what the difference is.

You must have been in pretty hard snow without scratchers?

I run my scrathers all the time I am on less then 3 inches of new snow..first set of hifax I changed at 2000 miles and still was at least 1/2 there..last set ate thru in 50 miles(I broke a scratcher off at the beginning of a ride and by the time I got back to the truck the hifax on that side was split in 2 for about a foot and it garfed up the rail..my sled came with no wheels and i havent put any on it..scratchers work if you use them....

You can't go wrong with adding bogey wheels if you have any trail or hardpack riding on the way into the deep. Your asking the question, so obviously your a little worried...just add the wheels and be done. If your worried about weight...skip the burgers and fries!

Yeah, thanks i'm not worried about the weight, just didn't know if it was worth it or not. Looks like it may be a $100 well spent just to not have to worry about it. Honestly i can't beleive they don't come with them, how much weight do they really shave by taking a couple of bogey wheels off?? Is their 4 or 6 in the kit? Anyone have a part number? Thanks!

I would run them, I went through my hi fax in 500 miles, to the point I could see through it. I ran my scratchers but I think my track was so tight that it wore really bad. I switched everything out this season so I am running my track looser

I used my scratchers on both rides, except for on the way back down on the 2nd ride, and I believe thats what did it. Live and learn I guess. Wheels are installed, I figured I will try and lose 4 pounds if weight really becomes an issue, which it really isnt.

Got the kit ordered, thanks for your input. Just wanted to make sure i wasn't adding unnecessary weight to my sled and throwing away $100.

My next question (should probably just start a new thread) is how to properly break in the sled. I have heard something about heat cycles?? On my 07 700, i just took it fairly easy for the first hundred miles or so, before i really worked the sled?? I know when i bought my rzr they told me just to ride it like i normally would, because the guys who babied them were having issues w/seals & oil leaks.

If the break in worked with the 07, do the exact same thing with this one. Make sure everything is working...oil pump, etc and the belt gets broke in...then ride it!
