Blue Marble Oil

I have used Blue Marble in 3 sleds so far with no problems. The only thing is is that I have read posts from some people on here that say not to use it and that it used to be better than it is now. What is the truth? I am willing to change to something different and want to know your opinions.

I just reassembled an M1000 crank this motor used nothing but Blue marble from new and it looked terrible. The domes and crank had a buildup of sludge that was as sticky as a mousetrap. I will NEVER use it in my motors after I saw that. Just my 02.

I have run it in my bb m8 since 2005 and never had an issue. As a matter of fact, I liked the way it didn't build up on the power valves and such. With that said, I have went to a turbo on the bb this year.....and I have changed oil, if that says anything.:)

I have used it for about 5 years in the same sled. everytime I pull the motor down I cant believe how clean it is and how good everything looks. I really like how the sled runs with it too.

I used BM for a few years with wonderful success, really liked the oil and seemed to run well in my sled. Then the motor seized on me, which also caused me to loose the crank. Figured it was just time for the 05 Skidoo Summit 600HO to loose a ring. Bought a new motor over the summer and waiting for it to be returned. I then read a post from Kelsey, at RKTEK (who had been using blue marble also), and he stated that he has been noticing a large buildup of carbon from the new batch of oil coming from Blue Marble, which was causing the rings to not to fit properly. I got my sled back, kept running the blue marble, seized the motor again after a couple hundred miles, the dealer had no explanation as to why it seized. He replaced the piston and cylinder, and I changed oil. Ran the sled all last year with no problems with the new oil. That is my experience.

So with people having problems did anyone contact Blue Marble to see if they had a production problem or something or did everyone just give up on them. That is what I'm seeing here, for all you guys know there was just a bad batch but you didn't bother to find out and just walked away. Not trying to bust butts I just think a company should be contacted for a few reasons
1. so they know there is a problem
2. so they have a chance to make it right
3. just out of professional courtesy between consumer and supplier.

I just dont like to stop using something unless I know for sure there is a change and it caused problems so if anyone has any facts about a change and the company isnt doing anything to fix it please let us know if not then anyone that had problems needs to get on the phone.

Its funny how when someone blows a motor its always the type of oils fault.

right on the head there. I have learned that whenever something the first place I look is the guy that did the work (myself) because its very rarely the fault of a product or part its usually something that the mechanic forgot or did wrong. Its just so much easier for people to point the finger somewhere else so they dont have to take the heat or admit they screwed up. end rant

I obviously get a little heated about this kind of stuff sorry.

I have used it for two years and cannot tell a difference between BM and the skidoo mineral that I use now. Only thing that I could tell was that my sled had less smoke when i was running BM.. I have nothing against BM but, id rather pay $15 a jug then $32 a jug. :D

take it for what its worth, use to run blue marble always noticed carbon build up on pvs. then switched to intercepter becouse i could get a better deal noticed a huge differance on pvs.now i think amsoil gonna cost more but i'm willing to pay the price

BM in 3 sleds now for 4 years, no problems, a lot less fumes, no carbon buildup anywhere (including the rave valves and the tops of the pistons), BM will actually clean up a carboned-up motor if you use it long enough.

I had the same sticky build up on my 07 800R, I ran B.M. for the last 1000 mi, of it's short 1300 mi. life. I don't think the B.M. made the crank go, but when the dealer called me to ask what kind of cheap oil I was running, I about crapped, he said that there was a sticky build up all over the place, I could not make it in to see it but a friend of mine dropped by and the dealer showed it to him just to verify that it was there. I'll be a DOO oil guy now I guess.

I have had nothing but excellent luck with amsoil interceptor and HP injector oil, liltte more money but well worth it in the long run. Ive torn motors down that have run these oils since new and they look excellent after thousands of miles. Just my 02
