Blown Top End

I have about 700 miles on an RK TEK drop-in kit and head in my 2011 Pro. Yesterday one of the piston skirts broke. Luckily this happened in one of the more "ideal" places if there ever was one for losing an engine. Before this it ran flawlessly. Yesterday it started having an intermitten bog and eventually went CLANK CLANK and died. This exact thing happened to a friend last week running a MTNK kit. Curious on which direction to go from here. I imagine the cylinder is scored. Buy a replacement cylinder and new pistons? Big bore? This next weekend Wyoming trip isn't looking too promising. Any suggestions would be great.

I'm curious if you haven't torn it down how you no it's a skirt broke? I guess you haven't tore it down since you don't no if the cylinder is scored. If so that's the first piston skirt that I have herd of on rkt piston.

I had a motor go down end of last season with RK teks drop in kit. Running dans LRTM this year.

Yeah I can say cylinder skirt too. Even tho the whole thread had nothing to with the cylinder skirts. It's OK.

Did it break or what happened?

Hard to tell on my motor what truly caused it. Had a broken skirt but it locked up bad on both cylinders. So not sure if it locked up then broke or broke then locked up.

Sorry CRFFred. Didn't mean to get your panties in a bundle. But I've never been known to be nice just call it as I see it

Now that Phil and Fred got their bickering/bantering out of the way...

Can we get confirmation on whether it was a PISTON skirt or CYLINDER skirt please????
