any one going to brainerd this weekend to watch nhra nationals? i will be there, i only live 10 miles away.

Wish I could be back up there for that. I miss those days. Last time I was there I got to go look around Jason Line's trailer, Its pretty impressive when you see what kind of operation those guys got going, couldn't meat a nicer guy either. My buddy has known his family for years so we got to see everything and hang out with him for a while. It was pretty cool.

we always just go on friday. that way you get to see all the cars qualify. man tiks are spendy this year most expensive on the whole circuit $40 to get in and $60 for a seat per day.

rub her down with lube i'm sure she will be there and i will see what i can do about pics. FYI there is alot more girl action at this event then ashley. the camping area is supposedly the wildest on the circut.

...............the camping area is supposedly the wildest on the circut.

Maybe in recent times, but in the '70's maaaaaaaann..... it was crazy.
There were some "biker" camps in the woods ..(not all the track interior was cleared, like today) .. that you just stayed away from, knowing what was good for ya'.

What got the track in trouble was the wet T-shirt contest going on with a group of spectators, and a home video of the festivity got passed around. There was quite a fuss about it.

Friday will be my first time actually attending a major drag race, but I live close enough to the track, that I can hear every race event, and when the Top Fuelers run, it sounds like thunder.

never been and I grew up an hour away. Hell I haven't been to B and B area for 5 or 6 years on the weekend, let alone race weekend.

Post up pit and camping pics!

I'll be there around 2am tonight and will stay till sunday. Got my camper loaded up and will be staying in the middle of the "zoo" like last year.

Can't wait. If anyone wants to BS over some beers after the races, there will be cold ones at my place!

Friend of a friend had a copy of the "video" back in the day. Looked like things got a touch out of hand that day. Some guys I went to school with sold firewood through the campground back then. They had some good stories to tell at football practice after the nationals.

My wife and I went every year for about 10 in a row, then quit when the track changed owners a few years ago. Our free ticket source dried up and we were too tight to spring for them ourselves:)

On of these years I'm going to go again and take my daughter with. I think 8000 hp nitro cars running are something everyone should experience at least once in their lives.

Actually, and no offense if your buddies with the colonel, the track is in much better hands now. Runs much smoother and the NHRA will be continuing to come back there as they were about to pull the plug.

Ditto's XC700, that a$$hole "Colonel" (sp) was a real jerk, whole community was glad to see him sell. The new owners are a young couple devoted to all kinds of racing.
I'll be there tomorrow. Friday. Hard to meet up with anybody there, too big.

I still think one of the best ideas they had was the Wed night Street Drags. It's amazing how much different things are around there now. The Colonel seemed to let his greed take over and forgot that without the crowds and without NHRA he's got nothing but a piece of land with a lot of asphalt.

Yep. the new owners seem to be giving it a real go. Making it into more of a multi-use, multi-season type of venue. Obviously it's all about racing, but they are getting some different things going like the sno-x and such. I hope it works out for them as the "colonel" just about had it run into the ground. Would have made a heck of a golf course though - not that the area needs anymore of those.

Had a great day at the NHRA. Weather was perfect.
They ran some drag snowmobiles too. 150MPH, about 8.4 sec, if I recall correctly.
1,000 ft. track, since that drag racer was killed recently.

Top fuelers running 4.7-4.9, mid 280's MPH. Helluva a noise when they launch. Your whole body shakes.

I took a few lame pics. Maybe I'll post later.

just got back from race. sleds ran the 1/4 mile. only funny cars and the rails run a 1000'. Ashly quily #1 j. force #2 Hight #3 worsham #4 Neff #5 line or anderson #1 i think track sucked at first round every car smoked the tires except j. force
