Billing, Montana or Denver Colorado?

i have to ask why you say that ...

billings has nothing close to the drug issues in Denver

no drug problems in canada eh

Believe me, Canada has drug problems, amongst others....

Montana is the only place I've ever seen the "Meth - not even once" or "Meth is death" signs. Years ago Montana was coined the meth capital of the USA. I don't know how much that holds true anymore.

Denver is a cool town for a major city. Lots of options for city things to do. Major airport, easy access to riding in almost any direction, low crime (amongst cities), good job market, lots of options for places to live). If you're going to compare it to a small town like say Kremmling, lol it is a rat race. But bottom line is its one of the larger cities in the US (27th), your comparison is really apples to oranges.

There would be a lot better riding a lot closer to anywhere around Billings, bar none.

There are easy ho's in Billings though because it's a college town.

Denver has its fair share of easy ho's, but the good riding is at least 3 hours away.

IDK, I've been here since last April and so far it's a nice place to live, lot of variety, but overall I think I'd prefer living in a small town again.

Not that Billings is small, but Denver is friggen' huge.

??where are these easy hos you speak of???

As someone who lives in billings, and having lived in lots of places...it is Rey hard to beat Billings...proximity for hunting, fishing, and sledding...significantly better than Colorado (way over crowded)

Billings has a very strong and growing economy due to all that is going on with the bakken oil fields...good sized town, good community, don't know who said there is nothing to do, great (one of the best) farmers markets, concerts at metra or Alberta bair,

2hours to Cooke city for sledding
3 hours to big sky/west Yellowstone sledding,
2 hours to the Horns for sledding...

Hunting- Crazies, Paradise Valley, Gallatin Range, musselshell, antelope, elk, deer, bear, wolves etc.

Fishing- Yellowstone, musselshell, gallatin, Jefferson, Missouri, Madison, etc. etc.

ive lived here my whole life and never heard that we are the meth capital
yes you will see a huge anti meth campaign in montana "not even once"
being proactive is a bad thing

sorry for the thread getting off track

great people in Billings
great sledding not far away
but as has been said apples and oranges to Denver

Sh*t, Summit county is a rat race compared to Kremmling. I spent enough time in SLC to know that Denver is still a rat race. Too many people, the infrastructure was never built to handle the numbers so now there are roads and construction everwhere trying to accomodate the masses.

Like others have said, Denver has become damn near as bad for oozing Liberals as Boulder is. At 39, I no longer feel the need to party and chase women. I'd rather go hunting, riding dirtbikes, sleds or ATVs and then do some wrenching. The city isn't for this ol' white man.

I have lived north of Denver since my parents moved us here in 1986 (5th grade). I did a 4 year tour in Laramie for college and then moved back after graduating in 1997 and have been here ever since. I travel about 30-40% of the time for work and I have spent significant time working in Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Dallas, Chicago, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Washington DC, NYC, and London - they all have their good points, but I still like Denver the best.

Any big city is what you make of it, or let it make you into. It is awesome to be able to go down and do all the "stuff" if you want to, stay in your neighborhood, or pack up and get away from it all.... I have long outgrown going downtown every weekend, it was fun while it lasted though!

The biggest thing that will turn a person off living here is a crappy commute to work. That is sometimes hard to work out if you and your wife work on opposite sides of the city.

We live north of town in an unincorporated area on an acre and a half - not a huge amount of land, but enough space to get me away from my neighbors and have a shop to store my toys in.

I like having a balance and only going downtown when I want to - the restaurant choices are outstanding and the front range is the microbrewery capital of the world. All 4 major professional sports (I guess 3 right now until the NHL and the players pull their heads out), concerts, the National Western Stock Show, four division 1 colleges within easy driving distance (CU, CSU, AFA, and WYO). There is always something to do or some event going on.

One issue that I can definitely warn you is that if you are a boater in the summertime there is a serious lack of lakes around here. Most people I know that have the big $ wakeboard boats also pony up for memberships on private lakes. I have no idea if that is an issue around Billings or not.

Coming from the midwest Denver is basically Minneapolis with mtns on one side, I like to call it the last east coast city in the west. Has all the big city things you would need. Denver has good riding its just that it is at least 2-3 hr drive one way.

Billings is much more backcountry/west feel. Anything you can do in the outdoors you can do in this area. More riding options for sure with less drive time most likely.

Cool! Based just on this thread I have made my decision! LOL! We will way our options but we were thinking Billings area just because we both like the outdoors and want to be close to what we like to do. We did like Denver area but not the big city so much!
