big wheel kits r cool!

Will 10" wheels work on a XP, is the snow build-up bad on the billet wheels? Thanks Loren

I sell billet wheels and being the bad sales man that I am I say stick with plastic unless you really need the look. Besides snow buildup another bad thing about aluminum is they can get dinged on the rolling surface from rocks and sand in parking lots and such. This over time if not addressed can chew up you track,

Fabcraft is an excellent choice and Mike is great to work with. If you want to keep your stock rear axle rather than going with an offset axle give me a call. We have rails for your Rev in stock that are machined to run 8 inch wheels. (could also do those 10 inch rails for the XP and any lengths up to 174)

i dont know who i talked to at fabcraft, but he may have talked me out of putting the 2 wheels in the middle. he was saying that by running the wheels in the center of the track it put extra stress on the track. and running 2 wheels that are light weight and not as strong as factory wheels could leave you stranded if a wheel were to break on ,,,,,, say a rock or a stump( we never hit anything like that do we?!)............ So what do people think about this little bit of info coming from the aftermarket salesman and all. anyone have any problems with broken wheels or shreddin track?

Since 2001. Only run 2 wheels on the inside. Ran one set for 4 years till I sold the wheels to go to a different design. No track damage. Ever. Not saying it's not possible, I just haven't encountered that circumstance. If OEM's have enough faith to put 2 wheel kits on their sleds I wouldn't worry about it too much. As far as breaking AL wheels......most companies sell their wheels with a warranty. Ask em how many times that warranty has been used. It won't be many, if any.

If one breaks, you're hooped, but you'd be just as screwed if you broke a OEM wheel(assuming you only have 3) Say you broke the far wheel on the outside while the other two wheels work....you've wrecked more than you might think. Rails being the first thing I've seen break. I sell both at the shop I work for, I won't intimidate a customer to buy one over the other, but being informed with both sides of the arguement is imparative. Good Luck.

Oh yeah, I've only seen a few tracks fail. Mostly from rocks and stumps, fence posts, etc. Or too much power. Never from being too worn out because of wheels.....if someone has that experience I'd like to hear the story. And not from 10k miles fully studded up either.

good to know. i was a little hesitent to belive that the tracks were wearing poorly from a wheel kit.

Billet may not get you home but will get you LAID!!!! really makes all sleds look better. Love mine!!! mental thing if you look better than everything is better!!

Track Damage is my problem

I have ten inch billets on an 06 600 RMK 144" 2.25 (with suspension modified to take them.) The outside of the track, right where it goes around the billets, has developed holes approximately the size of a quarter. They are located right on top of the cross pieces of the track. I tried filling the holes with an epoxy type material that is used to fix rubber conveyor belts. The fix lasted 3 days. Thinking that I may have messed up the application, I am just now trying again. But I believe the holes are due to ice build up. This may occur because unlike regular idlers with a rubber surface that will give a little, the aluminum has no give, thus no surface change that will shed the ice (think de-icing panels on the front of small planes). The outer surface of the wheels are pitted (not gouged). I am thinking of trying to fill in the pits with a premium car wax...it is an experiment as I have not had anyone tell me a suggestion for a fix. If there is anyone out there that has had the problem and knows how to fix it, let me know. Maybe I'm the only one...

above 8 your just throwing away foot print, saw a rev 159 with 10" wheels, it was hard to tell it wasnt a 151 by the footpring...

this is the most impractical waste of money you could possible put on your sled. maybe a billet pull handle would be worse but really, save the money for something that has benefits that are well, how shal i say it, REAL!!!

Whats wrong with a billet pull handle? I personally think that my billet pull handle adds at least 3HP and my billet choke lever has to had 1.5-2HP.:D Okay maybe not but it sure does look good;)

They work for me...

1. Swapped 159 for 162 ... 9's take up the slop without rail extensions.
2. Carbon fiber wheels WITH rubber edges ... track friendly.
3. Carbon fiber is the best of both worlds ... lightweight, strong and don't ice up/hold snow.
4. 2 wheel set-up evacuate snow from the rear of the suspension better than 3 or 4 wheel set-ups ... how could it not, you have 1 less wheel trapping snow at the rear of the skid?
5. Rolling resistance change is minimal ... many have argued that 2 wheel set-ups increase rolling resistance and lessen track speed ... your track tension on a 2 wheel set-up is more critical ... that's my take.
6. 2 wheel set-ups definitely carve easier ... how could it not?
7. Finally ... they just look cool ;)

I want to do it for the reason it seems it would carve better on hard snow. I'm not that big, so unless I have a backpack full of beer it's pretty tough to lay my sled over on hard pack. I have learned some little tricks that make it easier, but I think the wheels would help as well.

Here is what I got with the new ride!!! I am also not very big, so hopefully it will help me on harder packed snow. ALSO, I loved my 151 and would not go back to the 144-146. So hopefully this ate up a bit of the extra length.

Now where did you steal that photo from!!?? Looks like a C-Lite track to me! can't be your sled at all.. yours never leaves the trail and from what I've heard it never gets much past 50mph either. :D

LOL...Big wheel kit was installed before the "Trencher" got replaced with a real track ... just didn't have close-up pics after the track swap. As far as the other useless drivel, it's not even worth a comment

When you install 8 inch wheels on a rev, you dont need to do anything with the rails correct.?:confused: Seems like the wheels make a space in between the rails and the track (at the wheel of the track) ?? thats ok right>?:beer;:beer;:beer;:beer;
