So I just like to sled and have done zero mods on sleds, what does a big wheel kit get me?

plastic/composite is less prone to ice/snow buildup which in turn is less track wear..specially with tigheter tracks and high hp / track speeds.

but, billet has "bling" :P

Big shiny wheels!!

Avatar shows mine. Were needed when going to a 156 on 151 rails.

Big Wheel Beni's

A wiseman once told me that big wheels benefit track speed as there is less rolling resistance since the track does not have to bend around such a sharp pivot point with say 8" or 10" wheels vs smaller ones.

I don't know how measurable this purported gain is ???? I think it is more show than anything ..... but thats ok.

I figure if it was a big performance gain you would see the race sleds all doing it ....... have not seen one yet??? Does your answer lie there????

I have 10" billet ones between the rails ..... everyone is jealous of my "rapstar rims" ....... try it you will like it.

Your a thug dude a thug!!!:D:D

Well, I think the reason you don't see it on "race sleds" is because there aren't many 151"+ race sleds on the track.

I believe, the longer the track, the more rolling resistance and rolling weight is a factor.

On that note, I have seen some short (136" tracks) with some obnoxiously large big wheels..which in that case, I think its just for bling. lol 136" with 9"+ wheels = 121" foot print. gg
But if thats what your after!

This is bling.

This is a combination of bling, reduced rolling resistance, reduced weight(from 3 wheels to 2. Also the weight of the axle to consider) and did I say bling?

above 8 your just throwing away foot print, saw a rev 159 with 10" wheels, it was hard to tell it wasnt a 151 by the footpring...

this is the most impractical waste of money you could possible put on your sled. maybe a billet pull handle would be worse but really, save the money for something that has benefits that are well, how shal i say it, REAL!!!

beelring!

:beer; I could see how an 8 or 9 maybe inch wheel would increase track speed, and 2 light weight wheels are lighter then three or more stock wheels, bling bling,,,,, :beer; but look good not foolish with your choice of performance mods added to your sled bling bling bling! some good advice so far. anybody with some brand choices other then the one already mentioned?:beer;:beer;:beer;

we did big wheel kits on 2 --2001 800-RMK,s --we rode with 2 others that didnt--we so no gains in anything--havent gone down that road since:confused::confused:

whats wrong with buying a mod to make you sled look better why is it wasting money i doubt you would go buy a brand new truck with steel rims on it i do agree you can over do the bling factor but dont rag about someone doing somthing for looks

sense

depends what you have in many ways. if you have an older sled with a 6 in idler you might see a difference with some "tens" but when your starting with these new sleds that come with eights on them its pretty worthless unless you feel the it is worth 275 of bling, i couldnt resist the deal at haydays and wanted a little smaller print than 154

we also dont ride our sleds quite as hard as we do our sleds eh?

percent of stock vehicles vs modded ones... not try to start anything, but sleds are way more for fun and hard ridding.

I ordered the same size as stock (8") from Tricked Toys. They look really good. I wasn't looking for a performance gain, just something to set it apart from the other sleds out there.

how many miles you have on the sly dogs? they holding up? do you have the "fan" blade ones, can you tell any difference?

I only have about 4-5 rides on the Sly Dog's. They seem to have more drag than the 8" billet MMP wheels that I had on it. It could be the wheels or it could be that I went from an MMP Freedom axle to a MMP offset axle. Do the fan blades work? I'm not so sure, but to be fair to Sly Dog I have 5 11/2" holes drilled across my track, so snow build up was never an issue for me.
