big tank-does stock fuel gauge work

It works so well that the gauge says were always full!!

It does not have a sending unit. So you have to add a resistor in line to fool it in believing it has fuel.

What tank are you using? I ordered a Creative Composites Trail Tank...they say it uses all the stock sending unit stuff.

Thanks,

big tank

I just put a trailtank on the gauge shows full longer. Use stock sender.

Trail Tank - stock sending unit...works fine...just says 'full' for awhile before the float starts dropping...went 54 miles and it reads half empty...will check gallons when I fill it...

Bummer is...I'll have to go back to stock to make room for a turbo...unless they revamp the mold a bit...

Trail Tank uses the stock sender as stated above. It simply reads full for a longer period of time. Just installed one and fit is great.

is your seat fully on in the pic?

I'm curious about this also...I installed mine today...the seat sits about 1/2" back...gonna need to make some brackets if i want to use the stock bolt holes.

Overall good (tight) fit. Needed to tweak a couple of the holes in the body panels to make them fit easy (in case of the need for mountain removal).

I put 5 gallons in...fuel guage showed 5 bars.

it fits without brackets... just give it the shoulder...;)

I need bigger shoulders!! lol :D

I already used a 5lb dead blow to get the tank to squeak over the studs...the front of the tank is up against the steering hoop. Without taking a heat gun to her to mold to the frame, it's as far forward as its gonna go...I dont want to force it any more than I have.

Everything else fits...just the seat brackets sit about 3/4-1" back from the holes. Easy enough to remake the 2 brackets to fit.

Good pics....I kinda wondered what would happen with that white plastic piece coming down over the filler neck....looks gay IMO with the plastic tabs hangin out...plus there now is no where for the side panels to hook into. Has anyone verified it does hold 10.4 USD gallons????? I like a clean install and to me it doesnt really look like it is.

Also so to take the hood off and side panels you need a screw driver now?? Am I seeing the pics correctly??

The side panels are eliminated as that is where part of the extra capacity comes from. The pictures don't do it 100% justice as it looks better in person. It will hold 10.4 gallons filled all the way up.

Yes the dsuz fasteners have been replaced by phillips head screws to hold the panels on.

I suppose theres no way to make the dzuz fastners work?? I'm not really a fan of pullin out the screwdriver and droppin a screw or 2 in the snow....man I'm kinda disappointed:mad:

They are researching a different way than the phillips head screws currently. It is very tough to incorporate the dsuz fastener due to the rotomolding process. I found some thumb screws that would work, would that be a good alternative for you guys do you think?

Why not just use some velcro and call it a day? Plus it would give you easier access to the radiator to put your goggles and gloves on it. Or you could try and glue a snap on the tank, and put one on the plastic.

I would go velcro and glue the ends to the plastic pieces.

that would be better for sure....but the dsuz work pretty good. What thread are the screws?? Maybe a rubber grommet style with a push in...kinda like on a doo windshield?? Vlecro wouldnt be a good idea I dont think....

I think that fAStener would help a lot. The tank is very nice, but it doesn't work with a mcx turbo unless you melt and push it in around the charge tube. also my tank would not go far enough forward for seat bolts, it hits the steering loop. this tank is very tight, sending unit looks to be pushed in touching the frame when installed in as far as possiable (possiable short after some use). I think i will get the new batch when available
