BIG Slides in Alpine

From this morning's avalanche report:

"Massive natural avalanches of historic size occurred yesterday. In the Hoback River Canyon two massive avalanches impacted the highway. A Class V-sized avalanche impacted the groomed trail to Granite Hot Springs at about 1:30 PM. Two snowmobilers who were swept off of the Greys River Road deployed airbags and survived even though one of their sleds ended up in the river."

Glad to hear everyone made it back to the parking lot.

Good news is.....Valley rain has stopped and cooler temps are back. That should help stabilize the snow and slow these wet slides down.

Rode up there Saturday. We went over Squaw rather than up grays but still saw about 15 slides. 4 of which were on the grays & squaw roads. Its insane out there right now. Hope everyone is keeping their heads.

PS I was told by the forest service ranger that there were 10 slides between the parking lot and box y on the grays road.

I rode threw this yesterday on the way to the hot springs. It was ugly to say the lest.
