BIG HORNS (south)

sledding in the Horns

Hey my friend went up and said that the trails were grommed!!! finally, and I don't know about the gates.

You need to check your sources before you post something. YES the lodges are open, YES they have new owners, YES they are trying there best to get employees hired. Give them a chance they are trying... Call this Number #(307) 366-2424.
YES the trails are groomed, there is good snow west of Munkers Pass. YES the gates are open...... CHECK YOUR FACTS.....
NOPE,

Meadowlark and Deerhaven are pretty much closed down..

You can say in buffalo and then drive up.. about 20 miles..

haha.. How can you call a lodge open when they don't even serve food or beer ?? I'm trying to save the guys from MN a long drive out just to be pissed they can't even eat, except if they drive to the ski resort and eat with a bunch of tree huggers..

maybe you should get your facts straight !

Now tell us how you really feel as your posts always appear negative. Do you like your sled or even your self? Give the new owners a break as they may turn the resort around and make it a great place again to have fun. The ski resort has always been a good experience to us when we stop by while sledding the south end for a quick lunch or drink. I have never had any negative comments from any of the staff or skiers about the sledders. You need to change your attitude and see some positive aspects in life and you may even gain some new friends. Good Luck....:D

Looking to bring the women out there with us, none of which have been to the mtns before. We are gonna stop and talk with the "new" owners on our way over the pass to cooke on the 18th and see whats going on up there. thanks for the info

Jebski

I will give the CALIFORNIA guys (new owners) a chance in a couple years to see if they really do turn things around. I was not impressed by the owner I talked to. All he talked about was how he needed to spend his money from his leg injury lawsuit on something.. I hope they do turn things around. I'm not being negative, just helpful to the riders traveling 400 plus miles to the Horns. Sorry if the truth sounds so negative! Maybe you should do the same to help your fellow snowmobilers instead of trying to get out of staters money.

Hmmmm

WyoAc....Mtntopper and others do not have anything to gain by the out of staters spending money, in fact I would say they would rather NOT see them so they could be snow hogs. Normally when people are making reservations, most ask about bars, resturants and such. IF they don't then it is kinda there own fault. Besides I would say that 90% of the out of staters, if not more go to the North end due to the reputation. Oh well, everyone has an opinion....including me!! ;)

I actually live yearound on the south end of the Big Horns. I have no ties to any of the resorts or financial gain from snowmobilers. As L2R stated, I would just as soon not have as many out of stater's or even in state sledders as we do have. Then it would be my own private playground but they are here and we need to treat them right. I also refuse to start rumors about bad service when a new owner takes over a business just because the prior owner may not of tended to business. We need to support the new owners and encourage added business until actual problems arise. It will be great if we can again go to Meadowlark and Deerhaven and have a good lunch and be appreciated by an owner for being there. If and when the new owners screw up, I will give honest opinions of the situation but until then I will remain quite and wish for the best for all of the customers and the new owners. It may be best for you to do the same until actual facts support your claims of how bad it is with the new owners.....:D

I echo Mbsieg and mtntopper. Give the new owners a chance, just as anyone would want when they take over a business. I met Bob (a co-owner), and he was there trying to make things happen instead of asking others to do it.

I have a cabin up east of there, and would like the mountain to myself. But that isn't the way it works. I appreciate the abilitly to sled for a ways and stop for some food and drink, and maybe gas. I have also relied on Meadowlark in the distant pass for support when I broke down. Win-win if they provide a quality product. I support them.
