Big Horns North (HWY 14 West)

We have been riding the Big Horns for the past few weeks. The snow is bad, but getting better. I am up every week so I will try to post some updated snow conditions each week. I attached a couple pics from yesterday...

That looks pretty good. It looks like every other year everyone says the snow is bad cause there isn't much around the lodges but you can always find it in the trees. This will be my 11th year going to the horn's 2-3 times a year and we have never not been able to ride even when they say there is no snow. Thanks for the report and the pics. Our group will be up there at the passage on the 26th and i can't wait to test the new Nytro!

update

No new snow. I added a couple pics from today. The one pic is between bear Lodge and the Passage. That may help illustrate why I say the snow is not good. There are pockets of good snow if you look hard enough, it is just getting there that’s the problem. The other two pics are of my cousin’s Yamaha. He doesn’t think the snow was too good…

dumb question, but would bear lodge be southern or northern big horns? we going out there Jan 8-13 and hope there is better snow than when we were there a few years ago

Bear Lodge is northen big horns. Best snow isnt usually until middle of feb. Last year Feb. was one of the best in the horns.

Northern Big Horns were covered with clouds all day, hopefully it snowed some.

Nothing. Was up Saturday getting a tree. Maybe 12 inches at Meadowlark and Powder River Pass. Would not take a sled off the trail in most areas. About the same for the northern section around Bear Lodge. Bald Mountain Snotel (link attached) shows 24 inches, but it has been that way for a week. No new real measurable precipitation.

12-21-07 1:30 AM Just got home (Dayton Wy, base of the Horns) from work. Snowing pretty hard right now. We have hope again! I am going up Sat. Will let you know what it's like.
