''BIG-BORE'' 800r

Terra Alps, Big John or Rkt, are very good kits and they all use cast pistons. I would definitley stay away from the wiescos in any big bore.

Thats a false statement. I know one of them that uses Wiseco in there BB. Not referring to the R motor specifically. IMO the wisecos work just as good as any piston. I use them in mine with no issues.

Im looking to get a bikeman bigbore kit due to the fact that i blew a piston and need to re-nickle my cylinder. bikeman offers the kit, its not the real thing like the billet one cause you have to send in your stock jugs. has anyone done this yet and if so is it dependable, or am i just looking at a time bomb.

My buddy got a bikeman m8 kit for his m7 and it was the biggest pos I have ever seen. A stock one would run better most days. They call themselves high altitude specialists and they are out of the mid west.
I like slp stuff. Doen't always put out the most power but it usually works. You can probably find people that weren't happy with their stuff too so take it for what ever its worth.

nothing against slp, but, they claim 172hp with head,y pipe, can and reeds. if thats so why do 800r bb only make 170-175? somrones # are wrong. anyone have dyno reports on the 860 kits?

The XP intake boots and EPA airbox along with the EPA ECM can be the only reasons (motors are the same)..the same 860R motor in a REV makes 5-8 more hp...with the EPA involved going in and "making changes" is a tall order IMHO..

As for Wisecos VS cast....I would take the cast first...BUT with the proper spec on the wiseco and a little extra fuel they live...ran the whole wiseco gammit myself, EVEN when a guy buys 100 custom pistons wiseco WONT give the clearances asked for...VERY arrogant IMHO-BJ

I am with ya a 110% on that one my cousin has a 1250 kit for his rt and it is an absolute joke. At this time it has run the best it ever has and it has trouble with my xrs with an slp kit on it. Bikeman's workmanship is a joke there base gasket for the kit looks like it was cut out with a box cutter knife. After my cousin bought the kit he has bikeman phoning him to find out what they were running for clutching in his sled. I kinda figured after spending about 6 or 7 gs the engine builder would have some sort of idea about clutching specs. All I gotta say anybody who has to ask my cousin for clutching specs does'nt know there head from there ***. No offense I would let my cousin set up my elan. As far as slp I love there stuff. I put there performance edition kit on my 07 xrs and it is probably the one of the fastest 800s around. I was very impressed for the price of the kit and I don't even have reeds on it know. All I would recommend is to get an egt with the kit because I found slp's jetting specs to be a little bit out to lunch but once you get that figured out you will be rocking and rolling. Best 800 bucks I ever spent.

what are you running for jets? where are your needles? I have an xrs with slp's head and y pipe on it. My buddies girlfriend was riding it and toasted it. Must of had a lean spot in the midrange and she found it. I have never had a problem with it. I never hold a constant throttle position unless it's wide open.
I did have a cpi pipe on it and changed it to the stock one before she rode it. It was pig rich in the midrange with the cpi. It ran it's best at about 7800. That is why I wanted to try the stock pipe. The pipe was the same deal as your clutching. I asked cpi what it was supposed to run at. He said he didn't know. They were just throwing more pin weight to make it pull harder. I told them they had to dyno it. A pipe builder that doesn't know what their pipe runs at. Who would have thunk it. It wont pull 8350. Dyno port says theirs is about 8100.
I think some of these big bores are a joke. Just like the m8 kits. They make more noise and so people think they are faster and they aren't.

something tells me i should just fix my jug and go back to where i had it ,it was a hot running sled . not hearing the best of things on these big bores. i didnt have the slp kit but i had most of the items on it, every thing but there heads and pipe.

The Bikeman post wont copy onto this one...

Please dont base your decision off of BMP stuff...

Will send you a PM...you also can call for specific details...BJ

Zack I stumbled over a tread on these 860 motors and I can still hear them arguing about how big of POS they are. We haven't seen them here I would go back to stock and ride that way. And by the way where's my XP????

Shr860r

Customers 2007 151 REV in the shop...installed 860 motor on Wednesday...ran up on the stand a couple times...did a couple 500' pulls Friday (2" of snow)...established a new clutch kit for the hill drags (500' up hill)...went racing Saturday..changed NOTHING..ran rock on 8000 rpm (cold pipe hp) took third in semi-pro open...at the rear bumper of a IQ 151 w/995 mod in the finals...trailered many a mod......customer picking his TRAIL sled on Monday...see ya-BJ

hmmm 1 thread with a couple guys having issues....(I did a search)

Can I post the threads with guys having issues with STOCK 800Rs???-BJ:rolleyes:

BJ ... Contrary to the 2S4L nay-sayers, I've heard good things from peep's who have your kit.

How many 860R kits (rev) and 860R kits (xp) do you have out in the field?

so what are guys saying about the cranks not holding up especially after the bb kit is installed how much of that is true and some with piston problems. my 05 crank went at 1700 miles( all stock )nothing done to the motor< kinda makes me wonder.

I have over 20 860's....all are running but 1....waiting for the sled to see what happened...I have a guy in Canada with 2200 miles on his 860...The crank issue is mute...the BB wont change what happens to the crank...if you want a crank TRUE will help...BJ

IMO these kits arnen't for the pull and go guy. Most problems people have are self inflicted and they want to blame it on the builder. If you get one you need to know what the motor is doing or asking for. Every setup won't be identical.

first sorry for the same name hymark860. I'll get her changed.

anyhow I have Kelsey's 860r b.b on a 2008 XP. on our local dyno we gained a true 19 hp over stock.

440 mains
crankshop single pipe
MBRP can
14.1 domes
