Mixed results =mixed emotions. I'm happy that we are making progress and that our sled setups are getting faster. I'm not happy that we still fall victim to certain mechanical failures(some big some small). Thats racing though, and all we can do is continue to step up our preparation for each race. I will go on record and say we will podium more than once in the final 4 events.:peace:

This hill was almost "stupid"...RMSHA competitions are super tough and the hills can humble you in an instant...Afton takes that to the next level. Jackson is THE BIG SHOW, and everyone should have lots of applicable data going in there after climbing here.:crutch:

There are a couple of personal video's that show just how narly this hill was. I believe one of them shows CABLE breifly getting swallowed by a huge hole that caught quite a few other guys as well. I was amazed at some of the guys that picked the right line and was able to make it through the section where the guy had his video camera rolling. That was some pure punishment for sure. I am glad i am sitting where i am that is for sure :face-icon-small-coo

Nice pics Cable. "Stupid tough craziness" is about right. Not sure how accurate it is, but I heard the guy setting the course up didn't actually ride sleds lol :wacko: That is by far the toughest I have seen the hill get for all 3 days. I posted a couple vids as well, but they don't do near enough justice for how tough the courses were. You truly have to run a sled up that hill to appreciate it. Can't wait to rail Jackson this week!

the good thing about failures is the can be fix getting a fast good handling sled is tough.:thumb::beer;

PIC #3

My hat goes off to Ryan Thompson of RLT Photography. He really knows how to capture us at just the right moment which can make us look better than we really are. What I love about pic #3 is you can see the roost impacting the tops of the trees 40ft away, and the perspective with the crowd below and all the race trailers is pretty cool too. If you zoom in all the way you can see my right eye through the goggle lens looking straight through the gate at the camera, and almost make out the big grin on my face under my helmet. :becky:...proof you don't have to be winning to have a good time!(but it sure would help lol!)

I know it may fly in the face of convention, but have you ever thought of going with a slightly narrower front end? The turns and transitions look pretty violent - I wonder if shifting weight quicker might be an advantage.

Just a thought....

MD.

Disclaimer: I owned an XTX a season or two ago - very nice sled. Glad to see Yami investing here.

The trade off would be a higher cg and tendancy to highside the corners. Some situations would show a benefit, but most would not. I run a 44" ctc stance on both sleds while many run 45" and 49"...I don't know of anyone using less than a 43" stance. The wider ctc is a big key for dealing with the deep trenches we encounter...

you guys need to wear a gopro would be cool to see the rider perspective
(disclaimer: the FS fuzz weren't going to allow us to even wear cameras due to NF regs, but they allowed it. Pretty sure this is not for commercial use, so I'm posting it.)

This gives you about 60% perspective of what the hill was actually like. Shot in 720 @ 60fps. This is of one of my best runs, but there is a great vid that captures up close action of gnarly wrecks in the Photo/Video category. Cable, do you have any of the footage from the ski mount available? That would be really cool to see.

Only 2 days until "THE BIG SHOW". Nothing like being in the "rock garden" at 8am on a saturday morning as the waves of race fuel drift up the hill, and a screamin turbo goes whippin by(hopefully).

GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!
