Just looking to get some input from those that have used either. I like the idea of the WRP board acting as a stiffiner for more tunnel strenght but some claim the tunnel may possibly crack.

Used better boards on my apex and 900rmk work well, But I do like the airframes just the price is a little hard to swallow. Thank god I 've got a Tig welder and plenty of time ;)

what ever you do, buy it through your dealer. have htem instal it ! If they won't do it, find another dealer that will. If YOU do it, and YOu break, bend, crack, tweak the tunnle in any way, you just totaled YOUR sled and all warranties are off.

Why did you buy a new sled? Probubly to have a trouble free machine. Why ruin your safteynet because the bords don't clean out as good as your friends sled that he took a cut off too. IMO, the bords are fine stock.

I agree with Clarke - ask your dealer about it.

Do you have personal experience with a warranty issue with a dealer after installing aftermarket boards, or are you just talking out of your... well you know!?? You need to spell check bud.

IMHO the Airframes look strong, but using screws for traction seems like a hillbilly approach... no disrespect to any hillbilly's intended! LOL

have had great luck with better boards. I think if you go with anything other then air frames you need to add vinyl to the inside of the tunnel.

i have airframes (absolutely love them! btw) and still plan on adding vinyl. i knew the airframes worked well but i didn't realize how well until i rode a stock pro a few months after installing the airframes. wow, what a difference. it was the first thing i noticed. also, i don't think the screws are hillbilly at all. check out pretty much any flat pedal used by downhill mountain bikers. they pretty much all use screws. extremely effective. in fact if there is any fault with the airframes it is the traction is higher than necessary and i may go through boots faster now. but that is too early to tell, especially with the complete lack of kicking i do now it might not be an issue at all. time will tell.

back on topic, good luck with whatever you purchase. i had a set of BB (and some SE on an 07) on my 09 dragon and was quite happy with them. i have not owned the wrp's but i'm sure they both will work as advertised and equally as well.

The OP was asking about cut out style boards. They all will void a warranty, you are cutting the factory tunnel with all of them...even if your dealer cuts it. Air Frames $465, Better Boards $225, WRP for a Pro ?

I have been running Better boards for the past 4 seasons without any issues. The boards have provided great traction and the black coating does not hold snow like raw aluminum does. They have been used by many guys on this forum without damaging the tunnel, including doing big cliff drops. I've put on a few pounds over the years and decided to upgrade to the heavy duty Better Boards and Better Bars this year. Installing the bars were one of the easiest upgrades I've done. Drilled out the five rivets and removed the four bolts (per side) holding the factory bars and then reversed the procedure by installing the four bolts and five rivets. The new HD Boards have also been upgraded since the originals. They have lower raised cleats so your boots aren't above the side rails, allowing use of the rail traction on the bars. They also just riveted back in place where the previous boards were mounted. I can't comment on personal experience with WRP boards, but I know there are many more guys running BB's than WRP because the flat out work.

Sorry about the spelling.i use my droid x cell phone alot and it is hard to get everything purfect. I am having warranty issues with my boards as we speak and they are stock. Both are bent and one is broken and cracked. Along with the chain case....

Can you elaborate? I'm confused by your statement that the stock boards are fine, when your's are FUBAR'd. ????

Thanks

I have had great success with BB on the Edge and IQ sleds. Awesome return for the money.
I have just purchased a set of the HD BB for the two Pro's, haven't gotten them installed yet.

Thanks for the info.

I will be getting my sled back with the WRP boards installed this week. Hopefully tonight if I can get down there to pick it up. I cant wait to see how they work.

Much the same for me. Had my BBoard replaced with the HD version and also bought some BBars. Installed them this passed weekend. Same process as yours Morsno. Bars certainly stiffen things up. Looking forward to trying them out. Looking like a big snow season in NW BC!!!

I have installed 9 sets of BB's since last year... thru this summer for myself and others... I have had nothing but great luck with them...Both types the normal and HD versions. All of them powder coated.

One of my friends, that I installed the boards for, weighs in at 280 lbs without gear and is a very athletic rider... we went with the HD versions of the BB's and after 1700 miles last year he did not have one problem... Because of his size, the outer tube gets bowed out a bit.. but, all things considered is normal for this big fella... The HD boards stiffened up the running boards for him considerably and got rid of the snow quickly (2011 PRO 163)

Any time any brand of boards are installed the warranty will be compromised... this is true if the Polaris dealer installs them or the owner.

I have had the WRP boards in my hand and they look like a very good product... met the owner of the company in Novi Mi last year... great guy... excited about his product and interested in making quality built in the USA.

I purchased some WRP boards but sent them back and went with Better Boards. I didn't like the idea of putting rivets through the side of the tunnel, the clearance to the track is very tight.

Take the pop rivets they come with and throw in your toolbox for something else. Get some quality squish rivets and use them. Hardly sticks out on the inside of the tunnel plus much better grip than pop rivets. I got mine from Van Amburg when I installed my factory Polaris stiffeners.

I used better boards on both my revs. Had them on for 3 years with no problems at all. They were the aluminum ones and snow did stick to them a bit, but a little rub of the foot and it fell right off. Much better than stock. If you get them get the black ones or have the aluminum ones powder coated. I however went with the air frames for the new pros. I think they will work even better and I like the look better.
