BETTER BOARD Problems...

On my dragon I am sure they let a ton of snow through, but for me the way I only have to stomp down a couple of times and gain traction again is way better than the kicking and chipping I had to do on my other sled(edge). Thinking of putting a couple deflectors under to see what that does.

I couldn't believe what it did for traction. Still have to stomp the snow off, buy didn't fall of sled ONCE due to slippery boards after the install....I'm having ALOT of boards ordered from F-Bomb now, they DO make me a better rider :D

I was thinking something like this
punch_flare_tool_withsheet.gif

http://vansantent.com/sheet_metal_machines/punch_flare_tools.htm

punch out my current star shaped punches on the 07 M8 boards to these round flared holes. Maybe even sandwich some UHMW sheets for snow to move easly

but the dies are spendy, might as well get the better boards

I absoultely love my Better Boards. Had a stock Dragon...just like mine, with me last weekend, and he was constantly having problems with snow building up.

....however, rather than trying to make one of the most influential and most helpful members on this site look bad with this public post, why not PM him first???

Yep, more snow comes up thru the holes than a stock board.
Of cource all you have to do is step on it and it's gone, unlike stock boads.
Stock boards when you step on em it turns to compacted snow/ice.

Better boards are one of the best mods you can do to your sled.
If you don't like em, I am willing to bet you can sell them on here to someone else.

So you are saying your buddies stock Dragon running boards outperformed yours for snow build up, snow clearing, and traction? You think snow is coming up through the evacuation holes and then re-resting on your boards while you are riding? HMM our thousands and thousands of hours of field testing (especially on that exact model) prove exactly the opposite. Sounds to me as if that was your first experience on them. Ride for a few more times and I honestly think you will agree that they are well worth the money! Also going to go out on a limb here and say that if you are legit and do give them their just deserves your riding buddy will have them on sometime soon as well.

Funny, I rode yesterday at McCall Idaho in deep heavy wet untracked snow with five 08-09 Dragons. Three of had Better Boards and two did not. Three riders I did not know nor had I ridden with. Their buddy had a brand new 09 that just got them installed through his dealer on a snowcheck offering. NONE had ever heard of this product as they are not on SnoWest and are simply recreational sled riders that don't do magazines, shows, the internet. JUST RIDE...REGULAR NON BIAS GUYS that are very elite mountain snowmobilers. Now all three had a chance to test them and see the performance heads up against stock right in the field, all day long, in absolute heads up testing. After yesterday both of those guys have them coming! Our greatest marketing tool is our existing product owners and that alone says the most for the product!

I bet if you surveyed the now over 4500 hundred Better Board riders you would find that 99% feel that they far "Better" then their stock boards.

At least 50% will say it's the number one ride enhancement modification to their vehicle.

Keep in mind we offer over 16 independant models designed specifically for each application. Some far outperform other based on design limitations but all are a significant benefit over stock in traction, strength, and snow clearing.

The perplexing part of this post is that the Polaris IQ RMK 155-163 model is our #1 seller and in my opinion (since I designed and have ridden almost every single application many extensively) ONE OF OUR BEST LOOKING AND PERFORMING MODEL!

I wish we could have had the camera going as this group sat for a break yesterday and we discussed my business and the Better Boards. The guy with the 09 that had them asked how we do and I stated that we were doing very well and that we had a universally beloved product selling world wide. We were guessing at a % of disatisfaction. I said, "you know how it is....even if you offer something GREAT you'll get some % of the public that will have expectations, want better, or have some sort of complaint." His response was...and I quote "ON THESE...your kidding?!?!"...then he said "well that is just ....starts with an S, ends with a D, and RHYMES WITH STUPID!".... had an explative in there too but this is a family friendly forum.:D

PS....REAL RIDER BLOG! McCall is getting SOOOooooo awesome! DEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEEP and you can now manuever anywhere (it felt like we went EVERYWHERE). We ran two completely dry and limped the others home on reserve. Never got 15 air miles from the trailer and flat TORE IT UP! Snowed all day and most of the time you couldn't see 200 yards but the tree riding was just epic. Lot's of sticks and no damage. FUN FUN FUN

Worth the money for sure IMO!

Have the powdercoated ones on my Rev, they help a ton just wish they were longer. But other than that they are perfect. My Dad's IQ also has them it is a huge difference compared to stock.

I have boards on both my sleds, Rev and 09 D8, This is my first year on the dragona and I rode it the first couple weeks with out boards on it and it sucked so bad, I feel off several times due to snow build up and no traction. Once you get use to how they work it is very hard to go back to stock boards. All it takes is a quick stomp on them to clear them everythime.

Yes they may let a little snow up through them but as posted above all it takes is a little stomp to push the snow out and they are good a new again, unlike the stock boards where you kick and chip at it all day then end up with the foot wells full up with ice blocks and sore toes from all the kicking.

I will never have a sled with out them they are well worth the money and the powder coating looks and work great.

They're so bad that I ordered another set today for a guest sled. I must hate my guests.

One issue though is that when rolling down the hill with your sled, the grip treads can beat up your knuckles, elbows, and back of your head after your helmet flys off. Not very well thought out in that department.

Maybe the "Even Better Boards" for 2010 will take this into consideration. Hair and blood rinse right off the powder coated ones though......one less thing to worry about. EW

just installed my first set, im not sure why i waited so long. my first time i rode with them i had 4 different people ask about them. i cant see how any body could have a legit complaint about these things. i love em

A few months ago, we would have said stock running boards were sufficient. After talking to Rob and getting a better look at his product, we changed our minds.
Needless to say, we bought some Better Boards.
Great product.

Well I gotta say it!!!

I would love to see pics of the installed units from the complaining parties.

I love mine and couldn't ask for anything better.

I put the snow eliminators on two years ago and was immediately pleased. They were a fantastic improvement over stock, but I do have one complaint. The treads need to be stronger. I busted two treads a few months ago and two more were starting to crack. The treads progressively bent over 2+ seasons of riding, eventually resulting in breakage. The bending wasn't a big deal and they still performed just fine, but broken treads is a different story. I suspect my 200 lbs and my love of jumping has a lot to do with it. Also keep in mind the Summit Rev boards are wider than most models and the stock Doo edge extrusions are junk.

Even this complaint did not keep me from installing a new pair and reinforcing them with a sandwich of Al angle and flat bar. I imagine they will be pretty bulletproof now, time will tell.

If I were to make one suggestion for future models, some thicker Al stock or some reinforcement of the treads would be a worthwhile improvement. Maybe not for all models as lighter riders or narrower boards may not have the same problems. Perhaps a tread reinforcement kit as an option? They are still a great product and like most others I wouldn't want to ride without them.

The pics are of the old ones that broke, I don't have any pics of the new set-up yet.
